cowhide bullwhip with TAG holder

Here's a link to a pic of a cowhide bullwhip I finished recently. It's being held by the TAG whip holder. I just liked the way this whip turned out so I thought I'd post a pic of it.

Hi Jim,
The handle is 8" long, but since the cowhide is a little thicker than 'roo you end up with a slightly different profile in the handle. The handle itself is 1" in diameter.
I don't know about the link not working for some people. I first tried to post the html code for the pic in a message but every preview only showed the code and not the picture. I'm not sure why that didn't work either.

Hi Paul,
Thanks for trying something with the pic I tried to post. Here's the html code for the pic as given by the website that's hosting my pictures:

Are you going to be at the WWAC convention in Claremore? I'm planning on going but so far I'm not sure what kind of whips I should try to have made up to take along. I was thinking of taking mostly cowhide whips since there are already a lot of respected whipmakers such as yourself who offer 'roo whips.
Hope to see you and a lot of other whipcrackers there!

Hi Adam,
That's weird that it won't show the pic with the scource code in there, but what can ya' do.
The WWAC convention in Claremore, I should be there, along with the wonderful Chris Camp aka-'Canasta'.
Isn't it hard to decide what to make when you are able to make whatever YOU want? You better get on it though, April is coming up fast!!! I had a bunch of whips planned out that I had wanted to take with me to show, but as it has been the past 4 WWAC conventions, I never get done what I plan to. Either way Mark should have some stuff of mine with him.
I can't wait to get some good solid whipcracking in! I've been so busy, and it's been so cold and wet that I haven't really been out for a good long cracking session in months. I'm sure I'm a bit rusty.
Can't wait to see you! And I hope ITG can make it too!
Regards,
Paul Nolan

Hey Swindiana,
I have been been making a few 8-plait cowhide bullwhips lately. Some people have seen the IOAB bullwhip on my website and then assumed that the 8-plait bullwhips pictured are just IOAB whips bumped up to 8-plait from 4-plait. My 8-plait bullwhips are a bit more than that becuase they have a packed cowhide core, a bolster, a plaited cowhide belly, another bolster and then the 8-plait overlay. With the plaited belly and bolsters the whip then has a slower taper and is also more durable.
Lately my standard 8-plait bullwhips have ended up with the largest part of the lash having a diameter of 2.8 to 3 cm, which is larger than the IOAB bullwhip and most people's idea of how large an Indy whip is supposed to be. I'm working on getting the diameter down to an appropriate Indy size, but I'm also partial to the larger size since it cracks so loud and easily (at least for me ).
Peace out,
Adam, www.winrichwhips.com
PS: With low quality of the last two saddle tan kangaroo hides that I got from Hardtke I'm thinking of stopping taking orders for kangaroo hide whips and starting to make them only for myself to sell on Ebay or to some of the cowboy shows that I go to. I might be able to find enough hides to do this. For orders, however, I just wouldn't want to take an order for a whip and then not be able to deliver a quality product due to poor leather. There's some good kangaroo out there, but I think most of it is brandy, since it seems that almost no one (particularly Indy fans) wants brandy kangaroo whips.
