We all know that the fedora from Raider's changed from scene to scene, but did anyone else notice that Indy's fed changed at least 3 times in the Ciaro scenes? If you take a look at the pics from the Regular Guy's wwebsite, you can spot the differences http://www.regular-guy.com/fedora.html. Specificlly the pic of Indy and Marion posing together in the street, the pic where he's taking cover w/ his pistol behind the wall, and then there's the infamous bash where the brim swoops down his right eye...the Basket Chase. I just noticed those points now and I was wondering if anyone else noticed.

Yeah, I've given that a lot of thought. I think the fact that Raiders hat changes so much has nothing to do with different hats. We all know it was a thin felt and was very pliable. I think the many different looks really just depended on how Ford crammed it onto his head from one scene to the next. I think he just wasn't too particular with it. The hats in the other movies chaged little because they were more stiff. Just compare the raft scene ToD to the ocean scene LC. Even soaked they kept thier shape for the most part. But look what happened to the Raiders hat in the river. It's my opinion that the hat was just REALLY floppy and changed shape if you even looked at it wrong.
Keep in mind...it is only a 'movie' and one that was shot -- deliberatly 'quick and dirty' -- just like the serials of the 30's, 40's...continuity is not the issue. Plus, I agree the felt in the hat for 'Raiders' was of it's own special quality and different than the felt in the hats for the other two films. Thus, giving it a more flexible and changable characteristic and pliablity. It is just another one of those things that make us 'Indy fans' crazy! It is all part of the great mystery of the Indy Fedora ! W>
That is still quick, under hollywood standards...and yeah, you are so on target...after all that abuse, the hat is going to go thru a bunch of changes! If we were to look closer at the rest of the outfit, we would probably notice all types of changes within, as well. Good feedback...thanks.
