Web Belt Brass Buckles

Post by FloatinJoe »

Over the last two years, the Coast Guard has phased in a new uniform and did away with two of our old ones. One of the modifications was changing our belt and buckle. Our old buckles were the same ones Indy wore.

My question for everyone is: would people be interested in naturally distressed buckles from years of work on boats and exposure to the salt water/air?

I have a few which I currently use, but if people are interested, I might be able to buy them from some of the guys for a buck or two.

Let me know if you're interested and I'll start asking around at work.

I also would be interested. I only found webbelts with a silver buckle right now here in Germany, so a brass one would be very welcome to make my Indygear a bit more perfect...

Is it the whole belt you are offering or just the buckle?

A couple of things.... Right now, the only buckles I have are the ones on my belts, I'll have to see if anyone still has their old ones. As for cost, I figure about $2.50 shipped. And also this would only be the buckle itself, no belts. All of our belts are blue and I don't think that would be to useful for anyone.

I will try to take some pics of the ones I have today.

floatinjoe; Would you know if these cuties are solid brass or brass plated nickel ones? :-k
Both are good, but I understand that a plated one was used in at least one of the movies.

The buckles would be solid brass. There seems to be enough interest that I'll ask around tomorrow on base if anyone still has their old ones. I'll let everyone know what turns up.

I've put a request out to all of my engineers and they are looking through their stuff trying to find some. My guys changed uniforms about a year ago and some think they probably just pitched the buckles. As soon as I get some, I'll post pictures and availability.
