LC tie

Post by Indiana Texas-girl »

I don't wear ties, but I know some of you guys like the LC tie look. I found this tie...not sure if it's accurate but if I remember from correctly the LC tie is skinnier than most modern ties. This is a skinny tie (1.75" wide) but not sure if it's LC skinny. If it is, then cool. If it's not, then oh well. Anyone know?

The LC tie was a poplin fabric one and judging from shots from the movie I'd say this one is a bit on the narrow side. I'm not sure if someone on the board has the MBA tie, but I'm guessing it's about 2.25"-2.5" at the bottom?

Good price though, and it would probably make a nice Blues Brothers tie I think. ;)

Honestly, my "LC" tie is a black military tie. It's cotton, so it has a better look that polyester. I paid maybe six bucks for it at a surplus shop, if I recall...

I just wanted to add that it was Irish poplin, it's actually a blend with silk in it.
It would be nice if someone could chime in with some measurements on it. ;)

I picked mine up a J.C Penney's several years ago for about 3 bucks. It matched Sergei's MBA made LC tie point for point when we compared them at the first QM summit. Regards. Michaelson

My father is in the Fire Brigade and his dress tie appears to be exactly the right shape.

The MBA LC tie is:
- 3 3/8 inches at the widest point (~8.5cm)
- 1 1/2 inches at the narrowist point (~3.8 cm)

Say, that's exactly the same as one of my dad's ties. I might buy it from him. How long is the MBA one?

That is the same dimensions as our uniform ties at work. I guess I should be able to get some of those pretty cheap from our clothing supplier. Ummm.

Your uniform ties are black I'm assuming? How about some pics?

Black clip on uniform tie. It has the same measurements that were posted earlier. I am sure that is what they used in LC was a Military/Police tie. I thought that from the moment I first saw it. I hope MBA didn't charge an arm and a leg for those ties.

It was ....$45. Shocking, but high quality. It was Irish Poplin. But $45 for a plain black tie. Noellll :!:

Sometimes, when a person is the sole source for an item, they will truely charge the maximum the market will bear. It is greed, pure and simple. How refreshing then, when a vendor comes along, like Peter at Wested or Fedora at Adventurebilt and charges a very reasonable price for their outstanding product, craftsmanship, and service.

To all of those good guys that steadfastly continue to give their fellow man a fair deal, I salute you.

MBA - Noel Howard's shop, M.B.A. Costumes. NH worked at Bermans and Nathans when the Indy films were made and he supplied Ford with general gear such as the shirt, the pants and the bag. Noel used to sell extremely accurate gear at MBA, but he closed the shop down in September 2003. http://www.indygear.com/contacts/noel.shtml

LC - Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade.
