My Wested Indy Jacket

Post by nicktheguy »

Ok, so I got my awesome, incredible authentic lamb jacket fom Wested, a size 46 tall - and it is incredible - My wife says it fits perfectly - but I am not entirely sure - I thought I would have a bit more room, and the side pleats stay open a wee bit on the bottom - should I have opted for a larger size, or should I let my 46 tall go and order a 48 tall? Thoughts, comments......?
Cheers

If you've never worn a jacket that is supposed to be short and tight fitting before, the fit of the Indy jacket might seem a little weird. I had to think back to the days when I wore close-fitting denim jackets to try and remember what such a jacket felt like because virtually every other jacket in my cupboard is about mid thigh or even knee-length. So don't get too psyched about not having room - it's meant to be like that! Of course, if you find that you can barely move in it, or something, that's a little different. But approach the jacket from the POV that it's supposed to be a close fitting, short jacket, and see how you go. Your wife might be more used to such clothing items, which is why she can see that it's fitting fine, but you do not feel 100% comfortable yet. Hope this helps.

Always a tough call on sizing. I just went through this with a US Wings B3. They suggested a 50L based on my height and weight. It was way too big. I exchanged it for a 48L and my wife still thought I looked, well, "bulky" in it. Finally they sent a 46L yesterday and it is perfect.

Now as far as Wested is concerned I ordered a TOD and Peter just sent confirmation it is on it's way. I asked for a 48L but asked Peter to make the final choice based on my chest, waist, height and weight. I am 6' 6", 225#, have a 45.5" chest and waist is 39" over pants and belt. My best fitting leather jackets have a back length of 28" and a sleeve of 27" to 28".

What are your measurments? Maybe dimensions from your jacket and body compared to mine will give you a better feeling of whether you made the right choice.....and maybe help me decide if I made the right choice once I get mine!

Soon to be Wested owner.

BTW, no matter how many times my wife gives her opinion on whether something fits me or not she still says "it's your call since you have to wear it" but she is usually spot on with the sizing thing.

I still let her decide on fit and looks of clothing since she is more objective. The saleman will say "oh, your wife likes the same things you do?"......and I say, "no, I like the same things she does"! Life somehow goes smoother that way......

Best,
Tony

I have been wearing the jacket around for a few days now and have gotten quite used to it. Actually, the lambskin is extremely ccomfortable. And I realize now a bigger jacket would just look odd compared to my tailored fit. The 27 inch arm length is great, in that my jacket arm length stays at the wrists instead of riding up like the eighties Don Johnson look. Now I want to get another one in a different skin....where will it all end....

By the way Tony, you and I have similar measurements. I am 6 foot 5 and am 235 lbs, with a 45.5 inch chest. My waist is usually a 38, but after these past two months it has ggrown to a :oops:40....But I will be getting on that asap.

Nick,
Glad you are enjoying the fit better. Not sure where my jacket is yet. Peter e-mailed aking where I wanted it sent, work or home middle of last week but I have not heard anything back yet, nor gotten a tracking number. Curious to see how mine will fit.

Tony,
I was just as anxious to receive my jacket - but it did come - it seemed like forever, but it did arrive. And it was well worth the wait. I spent yet another day wearing mine, and it's getting harder and harder to take off - because it's so darn comfortable. I hoe you will find such pleasure in yours.
