HJ SENT A NEW POET WITH THE RAIDERS TURN IN 2000!
I probably read this post in 2000, I wish I remembered it, it would have made convincing you all about the turn a lot easier. ..http://indyfan.dnsalias.com/vault/forum ... 50638.html If it was a mistake, was a similar mistake made in 1981- by the same person? If it was done on purpose, someone knew the secret and decided to do one for some reason. Maybe he liked the Mel Gibson joke.

I asked the question a week or two ago and it seems one or two of the most recent HJs have been delivered with the "turn" built in, with the block obviously not centered with the cut of the brim. Mistake? Or is it in Richard Swales notes on the Indy hat? I do remember reading that they would leave off the "rough look" (the choppy brim) if one requested it. The HJ I won on Ebay did not have a skewed block, but the one I ordered myself from Swales had a slightly off center block. At the time I thought it was just sloppy so I redid the crown, but now I think they were trying to give you the hat from the movie. Perhaps an e-mail to the chaps in Cambridge would get more info on this.

I've been going through old hat posts at Indyfan.com. Someone received a PB that was pinched off center, (he was distressed because the hat was so stiff, he didn't think he could reposition the front pinch.) I found a JC Penny Marathon fedora in an antique store Wednesday, probably from the late 50's early 60's. Like new condition. The semi-pinch was a litlle off center and it distorted the brim asymetricly, but it appears to have been sold that way when new. There's no line on a hat to indicate the exact front, so the person who puts the bashes in just makes an estimate. But "1/2 to 1 inch" off center is probably on purpose. ........So,....... who's going to e-mail Cambridge?
