SoF Mk VII bag arrived >> price isn't cheap, but ...

Post by BillyTheKid »

HI all,

i thought i'd take a moment and post my experience w/ SoF - buying a MK VII Gas Mask bag. The price of 20 GBPs isn't cheap, but to get the "real deal" is, imho, well worth it. In addition the shipping was *very* fast - less than a full week. The bag is quite dirty, but otherwise in terrific shape = no black lines as i've read in other posts and all the inner dividers seem to be in place and well stitched. All in all i highly recomend SoF - though to insure you get the MK VII i'd suggest emailing just after ordering (thanks to the thoughtful memeber who suggested this in another thread :!: ).

BTW, i ordered a Wested Indy Shirt = Peter emailed last Wen. stating that this would ship out on Friday (last Friday) and i'm now wondering how long i should expect to wait before it arrives ? TIA ...

Happy Holiday and Best Regards from N.M.

I found their delivery awfully fast too!

and the MKVII makes one HECK of a great movie camera bag. Holds lots of spare film and such.

Ditto on the shipping, I am always shocked how fast the orders arrive from SOF.
heck, Ditto on the camera comment also, I use my bag primarily for my Canon rebel. The extended lens fits perfectly where the filter tin would sit.

No problem. I just don't recall (off the top of my head) seeing a picture of a SoF bag before it gets cleaned up. I'm interested in seeing what sort of condition they arrive in. Thanks!

Post by BillyTheKid »

Hi Bink (is what i should address you as ? )

Here are five quick photos to show what condition the SoF MkVII arrived in - i actually am waiting to have my washer fixed (d*mn thing) tomorrow, so it worked i couldn't get this thing into the wash

As i stated - the bag is in nice shape but utterly filthy = smells a bit moldy too. A good soaking and run it through the washer (hopefully tomorrow :!: ) and i'll be all set to go :D

Hope this was helpful - i can take more / different photos if you'd like ...

Happy Holidays and Best Regards from N.M.

I would suggest not washing it in a washing machine...In the past I have seen people do this only to have their bag ripped to shreads...

I cleaned mine by filling a 5 gallon bucket with hot water and a little Oxy Clean and letting it soak for several hours...After that I rinsed it off and let it soak a little while in clean water, then hung it out to dry...
