A tale of woe...
...or is that Whoa!
A few years back my folks came to visit me in my new apartment and my Dad saw my first bullwhip coiled on my steamer trunk and asked if he could try it out. I thought that would be a bad idea, because it was very brittle, being 25+ years old, and needed reconditioning at the time.
"Too bad.", he says, "I used to use a bullwhip when I was a kid on the farm. I could knock a fly off a horse's ear without even stinging the horse."
And he wanted us both to learn to freakin' JUGGLE when I was a kid... oh, the time I missed! lol

That's pretty cool. My old man asked me when I was 11 "what do you need a whip for....?" So it took me till I was 32 when I FINALLY bought my first ones !

I know it, though, I'm posting ridiculously off-topic stuff as fast as I can, but durn it, your kung-fu appears to be stronger than mine...oh, hey, THERE's one more...Michaelson wrote:Hey, give me a break! I'm deleting Jerry's stuff as fast as I can, guys. Whoops, I wasn't supposed to say that, was I? Regards. Michaelson
...kidding...actually, the post count is embarrassing. It's more a sign of compulsion than anything else. (Got sleep?)
I was shocked a few years ago to find out my mother was a cheerleader. Arf. Of course, then I also learned she held some high-level clearance from the DOE (yes, Dept Of Energy) at one point when she was working on a prototype for the first nuclear sub...my mom, geek pin-up girl. Hedy Lemarr, slide over.

Just DOE! Heck, I predate her then, as I started out working for the Atomic Energy Commission (AEC) that predated ERDA (Energy Research Development Administration) which THEN became DOE, and with a Top Secret clearance. Man, what happened to all those years!! Just how old ARE you, Jerry? Ok, back to topic, what ever it was... Regards. Michaelson

Hmm...now you've got me wondering...better check w/ Mom...Yes, she is in fact still alive.Michaelson wrote:Just DOE! In ROTLA years? I was 14 when ROTLA came out. I guess that would mean I was born in 14 B.ROTLA, and this is now 23 A.ROTLA (or 20 A.ToD or 15 A.LC, depending on what camp you are in and how you measure time...)Michaelson wrote:Just how old ARE you, Jerry?

Yep, once again, I bow to the incredible wealth of information that is Michaelson.
You're right, it was a clearance w/ the AEC. She recalls it being a 'Q' clearance, but no longer recalls what that meant... How curious!
She tagged in the same email that this means she's been working on or with computers for 50 years...
