Sizing help needed

Post by AntonioPastor »

¡Hola! everybody
I'm thinking of getting a goat FS expedition, but the size of the FS it's different from the Wested. I own a 44R Wested, that fits fine. which size should I order from FS?

Any help or comments would be appreciated.

Best regards to everybody.

I can only offer my experience on this. The 42R FS seems to match the sizing of the 44 Wested a bit closer, but bear in mind that the Wested is ALWAYS a custom order, where you are pretty much dealing with off the rack with FS at this time. The sleeve length is what always catches me with FS, as I require no less than a 25 inch sleeve, and their size 42R is WAY to short for my arms. I'd guess them to be in the 23-24 inch length, and once they ride up, they're to short. So, unless your arms are a standard length (what ever THAT means. ), you may want to stick with the 44R size from FS too. It's not that much different in the body than the Wested, and you'll have that extra sleeve length required for ride up.

Like I said, this is just what I experience. Other's may vary.

Antonio,

My experience is a little bit different. Keeping in mind that I can wear off-the-rack items, my Wested is a 44R with nothing modified in the chest nor sleeves. My Expedition is a 40R with nothing modified in the chest nor sleeves. They both fit me just about the same.

I say "just about" because I can wear a heavier, thicker sweater under my 40R Expedition jacket that I cannot under the 44R Wested. Yes, I can wear a sweatshirt or flanel under the Wested but not much more. So, I guess what I'm trying to say is that I still have some additional room in the 40R Expo.

As for the sleeves, they both hit me at the first knuckle of my thumb---right where I like it.

Before you sink a whole lotta $$ into the Expedition (it's worth it!!) you should have G&B send you a jacket to try on. They can send you a 42 R or a 40R and you can see if it fits you the way you like. Just a suggestion.

Let us know how it turns out!

I don't have any experience with the Wested sizing, but I recently received my new FS goat Expo. Before ordering, I went to a coat store and tried on various suit and sport coats. The size that fit me best was a 40 short. G&B had a made-to-measure Expo available that had a 40 regular torso and 40 short sleeves. I ordered the jacket.

I have been wearing it for about two months now. I think the sleeve length is just fine. Some might like theirs longer. I have attached some pictures of me wearing the jacket for your reference.

I think I'll go with a 42 R, and if it doesn't fit properly, low it to a 40R.
Tough decission since the return cost from Mexico, it's gonna be a bit expensive...but worth it.

Thanks everybody

Thanks Michaelson. Coming from someone who has seen many Indy jackets, that means a lot.

I was more than a little concerned about ordering a jacket without trying it on in person. Luckily, it turned out well. I also had a tuxedo shop size me prior to ordering. Now I have to decide whether to get a size 7 1/2 or 7 5/8 fedora when Fedora opens his shop. I guess it's best to go for the larger size. Oops, wrong forum.
