New Keppler...oh my!

Post by cliffhanger »

Wow. That's all I can say. It is just what I wanted. I got a call from Lee Monday night and it arrived this morning. This is one of Lee's new 6X Beaver, and it's a doozy friends. This is a rarely seen LC style, and styled/cut just how I asked. Lee claimed it is one of his best LCs (gleames with pride  )

I wanted a thinner felted alternative to my Herbie J McAlpine, but something tough (and a good bargain). The color is dead on, in my opinion, and just beautiful. The wait time was a little long (I ordered in February!), but I believe it was well worth it. I did long for (no pun intended) a blue liner, but actually the white liner is very nice, and glued in securely, unlike my Miller was.

All in all people, get a Keppler Fedora. As everyone has said, it is a little stiff out of the box, but no stiffer than my Akubra was. And be prepared to wait, as Lee is a busy guy. But I also believe the price makes up a little for it. I got mine for $150 US, which is quite the bargain for a 6X hat.

I've done a little tweaking to the brim since these shots (more brim curl, a la Venice Pier scene). I am flabergasted...thanks Lee! She's a beaut!

Sorry for the crappy photos. It's a bit overcast here in Tennessee today. I may try to get more pics later this week. I also had to ditch Village Photos, so I'll see how my Fotki account works out. Enjoy!

Good to Mr. Keppler's still producing one fine lid, enjoy it, as I do mine.
Looks awsome.

Nice hat, looks like another fine bit of Keppler work.

You ordered in February?! I hope I don't still have two more months to
wait for mine...I ordered in April. The waiting is the hardest part!

It looks like a beautiful hat to me, although it’s not on YOUR head so it’s a little bit hard to tell for sure how it suits you. Is that fairly close to the color with the ‘overcast’ Tennessee skies and all; is that what you mean by “crappy photos”?

ooO...February IS a l-o-n-g time.

I now have (3) Federation Deluxes now and two are indeed very stiff, but one is very floppy and has a somewhat thinner felt - odd.

Yes, the exterior shots are the closest to the color. I'll get my wife to take some shots of it on my ugly mug when the sun comes back out. I think it suits me fine, but of course I'll want second and third opinions.

Thanks for the response guys. Yeah, Bill, I remembered your order being soon after mine. All I can say is call the man. He is an admitted low tech guy, and it is usually the easiest way to get a hold of him.

Peace,

Wow! That is awesome! After Keppler started offering the newer version, I have fallen for this hat.

It looks great on you Cliffhanger!!!

The proportions fit your face. That's the biggest for me. A hat could be the most spot on thing you ever saw until the owner puts it on.

Not bad at all. Of course, for mine, the best fun is in actually shaping the hat yourself, but to each their own. Be proud of it!

Very, very nice. Alot of people bash the look of the LC style fedora (pardon the pun,) it's still a good looking lid...
