Real Indy Hat on Ebay!

Post by bandit6 »

OK, I thought you guys would like to read this. Ebay always has some fun stuff to read. This write up for the "Official Indy Hat" is pretty good and the price is even better. I hope no one buys this thing. Anyway I would rather hear what you all have to say. Here is the link

Aw, c'mon. Give him a break.

As official merchandise, It may be worth something. Maybe. At least there's no Mickey Mouse graphic on it. You ever see what a beat up, rusted Temple of Doom lunchbox sans Thermos goes for?! Though, you're right, Jan, they are misrepresenting what it is.

And if Bandit there gets it for only a few bucks, it might be inspired to get a proper one later on. The only reason I don't have a proper one is expense right now... but I'll get me one.

While I can appreciate the humour of the situation, I'm with Sable here...maybe some kid's parent's will get them this and start them on the path to Indygear.

As a piece of Indiana Jones collectible history, this is a neat find because you don't see too many of the 1984 licensed hats around.

Besides, who doesn't play up the description of their items on E-bay? It's just, well, salesmanship!

Cheers,
Cassidy

Ok, I agree that it is a good Indy collectable. I have 2 myself that I got on ebay for 40 bucks a piece, but 300 dollars?!! I paid less for my PB and a little more for my Optimo. Now I am not saying that it is a good entry to the gear, but there reserve is probalby way to high as well. I see the same things with Strider Knives on ebay. Just a note for some humor and if you guys have anything clever to say. Only true fans of the gear would get this, so keep em coming.

I'm with Cassidy on that note. That hat isn't even half as bad as some of the rumpled, beat to death, oddball hats I've seen being sold on eBay as "original" or "Indiana Jones Style". I'm sure at the price it's going for, someone will get it for their kid, and he or she will have a blast wearing it for halloween. That mental image brightens my day :)

Don't worry, the current bid is $1.25.

It IS an official item of some sort w/ a crest to that effect. Accurate? No. Authentic? In a way, yes. So nothing 'evil' afoot, just ...misguided? :?

How many of us lived in ignorance for a long time about the hat. At the time Stetson came out with it, everyone didn't think anything of it. The "Official" hat had to be good. Then we grew up and voila, still official, just not right. Ignorance is bliss, plus a lot easier on the wallet...

I had one of these hats once. Two, actually. One brown and one gray. I gave the gray one away to my roommate, and I have no idea what happened to the brown one. Probably threw it away.

I'm sorry, but something made in 1984 is not "vintage." The two most overused words on ebay are "vintage" and "rare."
