Just a wee bigger

Post by lonestriker »

I just received my HJ from Germany. It seems that it is a little bit to tight!! I was wondering if anyone had any ideas to hake it just a little larger on my head? Beautiful hat though...the wait was well worth it!

Josh -

My first HJ from Germany arrived in my usual size and it was also too small.

I contacted Thomas, sent the hat back (at my cost) and several weeks later received my new HJ, one size up from my usual size, which fits great.

I wouldn't try to stretch the hat if I were you - I know you probably don't want to hear this, but I suggest sending the hat back for the next size up. It's a hard thing to part with a new hat like that, particularly when you know it's gonna be weeks before you have the replacement, but once the correct-fitting hat arrives you will be glad you did. At least, that was my experience.

But see what everyone else thinks first, of course. Perhaps there is another way.

Nice walls. :)

It's a beautiful hat. You could change that liner to a more accurate one though, but it's all up to you. Let's hope the replacement doesn't take too long.

Black liner

Post by lonestriker »

I thought a lot about the black liner. I figured i would rather rather have a black liner that wouldn't show the sweat stains as much. Not screen accurate...but hey. AS far as wearing it around the house a bit..this means I'm supposed to have taken it off since I got it? ;) It seems to have loosened up a little bit..but I just need a little more!

I would definitely recommed sending it back, in your climate combined with stretching the base of the crown to accomodate your head - that hat will develope a taper problem in no time flat.

Yup that must be the LC hat...and Ibelieve that Spielberg and Ford went into Burberry to try on the different designs. ;) :D

Im having a similar problem with my Herbert Johnson. Im looking into exchanging it for a larger size. Im a little worried about the hat being too large and sitting too far down on my head. Has anyone else who has done an exchanged have a problem like that?

Looking at and trying some of the HJ's in London I discovered the same thing. My usual 60 wouldn't fit me, but a 61 was perfect. I wonder why this is. :-k
