Recent Wested Orders

Post by ShanghaiJack »

I ordered my first Wested Raiders on Sept. 7th. It has not arrived yet, which doesn't surprise me, but I am going to be going out of town soon, and will be gone long enough that the post office will probably return the package before I get back. I'm going to send Peter an email and see what he thinks the jacket will ship, but before I do that I wanted to see if anyone who ordered a jacket around the same time that I did has received their jacket yet. If you ordered a jacket anytime in the last two weeks of August through the first week of Sept. and have received your jacket please let me know. It would be very helpful if you gave exact ordered and received dates. Thanks!

Thanks West. That does help, although I wish, and I bet you do too  ,that you had already received it. Looks like I might need to make some kind of arrangements with the Post Office.

Well I emailed Wested about 2 weeks ago and they said that they were waiting on a shipment of leather to come in and that'd I'd be getting my jacket within 10 business days. Tomorrow will technically be day 10 I believe so I hope it shows up soon.

Rather than worry about what might be, or what might not be... why not just make arrangements with the Post Office?

Keep in mind that orders for leather jackets usually go up when the weather gets colder, so this may add a little extra time to the wait. I ordered my Wested in March, so my wait wasn't as long as someone ordering right before Christmas.

I think that you can ask the Post office to hold any mail/packages within a certain time period. I don't know if that would qualify for a package that would require a signature, but my parents always ask the post office to hold onto the mail when we're out of town for extended perids of time. Then, the day that you tell them to stop holding the mail, they brought a big plastic container of mail.

West I hope it shows up soon too. Yours and mine!

Rob–
I will make arrangements with the post office if it's possible. I just wanted to have a better idea of the time frame before I try to make those arrangements.

Bink–
I was afraid that I waited a little too long and that things might be getting busier Wested way thanks to the colder weather coming. Oh well, it will get here when it gets here. Since I've been living in Japan for the last 4 years I completely forgot how early the Christmas shopping starts! #-o

I've found that the best cure for a long lead time is to hang out at another website. I've been conspicuously absent due to my recent order...

What type of leather are they waiting to get in? I'm wondering if the leather shipment would only slow down production of one type of jacket, while the rest would be unaffected. Also, they say "21 days" to ship the jacket. Is that 21 business days? Or 21 regular days? Does Peter send you an e-mail with a tracking number?

I ordrered mine on Sept. 17. By looking to your mails, I don't think I will receive mine before the end of October. I ordered a ToD original goatskin with gussets. The waiting time is too long... :(

By the way, Silverthunder could you please write on this topic how did you paid for tax/duty. I have to prepare myself!!!

I can answer the duty quesiton.

You will receive a PBB bill a couple weeks later. You can then mail the payment or pay online.

Do you remember the journey that your jacket took while on its way to you?

The last update I have is:

05-10-2004 08:20 Heathrow Airport Left origin country
05-10-2004 06:21 Heathrow Airport Arrived at outward airport
04-10-2004 07:39 International Hub Left origin country
01-10-2004 23:01 International Hub Arrived at outward Office of Exchange
01-10-2004 17:34 Charlton Depot Export item accepted into network

I'm wondering if it will arrive somewhere in Canada or it is going to go trough a hub in the USA before making it here in Canada.

Dart64, I will let you know how much it will cost for the brokerage fees and taxes. I think it will be around 120-130$ Cdn.

It should only be a couple days. Tomorrow it'll probably the distribution centre in your city. Then it'll probably the next day when your jacket arrives.

This is very unsettling to me, I just ordered a new Wested on the 26th of September, I was hoping to have it by the end of the month, but this info worries me. My first wested only took about a month and I had thought Peter had made the turn around time better, but I hope I don't have to wait two months to get a jacket. I hope Peter addresses this soon and hopefully we shall all have our jackets soon. Knowing Wested takes time no matter what but I hope it does not take too long. Best thing to do now gents is settle in, enjoy a fine cigar, and wait for word.

A few minutes ago, the doorbell rang, and I ran downstairs, and there was the delivery guy! He had a big box that looked like it held a new Wested TOD jacket! So, I signed for it, and brought it in the house! THEN... it wasn't my jacket. It was something else. And so, the waiting continues, and continues, AND continues.

I just ordered my Wested on Sept 30. I got an email from Peter the next day - Oct 1 - stating that he looked forward to sending it in 21 days...so...

Either whatever shipment they are waiting for isn't affecting my order (it's for an authentic brown lamb), or whatever they were waiting on has been resolved, and business is back to normal.

Gerry also stated in a separate email that in general they are still holding to the 21 day mark for a little while longer, but by the end of October that will be difficult to maintain due to the expected volume of orders for the holidays.

(Peter, Gerry, if you see this, please correct me if I mis-understood.)

There's always one great thing about takin' the boys out: as a parent you get to "inspect" the candy once done. It's like cherry-picking, they won't understand until they have children of their own.

Kidding? My favorite part of Halloween anymore is sitting on the bench out front sipping pumpkin-beer and handing out candy...lots of pretty mommies taking their kids out in my neighborhood.

Last year my two year old (then only one year old) sat on the bench w/ me to hand out candy - her dressed as a princess. She's such a cutie, and a real chick-magnet.

Jerry, I e-mailed Peter on Wednesday (day 20 of 21) and asked him if he would e-mail me when my jacket shipped, and if could also include a tracking number in that e-mail. 2 days later, (today), he wrote me an e-mail saying that it's on it's way.

Hmm...I may give a call and see if they could possibly get mine out a day early...hedge my bet against Halloween...if it does show up in the nick of time, though, it's probably going to smell TOO strong to wear to work!

Indiana Moto,
Could you post what kind of leather and what color you got on your TOD?
I ordered a Raiders about a month ago, and have no idea
when it's getting here. I emailed Peter asking for an update,
but haven't received a reply yet. I have a feeling that the
leather he was waiting on–mentioned in one of the above
posts– was/is probably the authentic goat, which would explain
the delay. Thanks.

SJ, I can tell that you are going slowly insane. Trust me, I know the signs: multiple posts, calls to Peter (unanswered emails from same), nail biting, drinking, smoking, etc. I'm sure things are fine.

Well I ordered my authentic goat on September 20 and Peter emailed on September 23 saying it was in production. I think I will start going a little insane from the wait during the next week or two. Hopefully I get it before they haul me away!!

GO IT TODAY! I tried it on, and it fits well. The only problem I seem to find is that it's a little tight at the back of my armpit. I wonder if I got the gussets if it would have eliminated that problem. Does anyone know if the leather stretches at all over time? Or does it shrink?

I called Peter today, because I orderd a goat some time ago, he was a bit distracted with other things, but explained that the hides that they had got in weren't good enough, so they were waiting for a new lot to come in.. They're expected either this week or next..... I *hope* that I'll get it soon because I'd like to have it for the UK summit and I'd really want it to take to Peru with me at the end of the month...

Maybe it'd be possible for me to pick up when we visit Wested during the summit?? I'll have to ask.
