AGGGHHHHH!!!!!
I was trying to replace my fall on my 10' morgan. And then Murphy showed up. The hitch knots fell apart on me. What began as a simple fall replacement became a frickn nightmare. So I've spent the last 6 hours taking a crash course on how to make a hitch knot/ braiding. (you know those moments in life you wish you could take back and just think about the situation alittle longer before making a SNAFU. Well, I'm having that moment. This is worse than one of my law school tests ) I believe I've fixed the fall but my whip is now a couple of centimeters shorter. The fall and hitch nots are not pretty by any stretch of the imagination. Decent, but i'm sure one of our whip venders would puke. I have don't know how to make digital pictures so I can't show you how bad I ****. And why i did something so stupid. AGGGGHHHH!!!!
ON a lighter note. I received a Lee Keppler TOD fedora yesterday. The order was right on schedule and saying the hat is superb would be an understatement.

You know, Lang...That's exactly what I was thinking...
"Mike Murphy? Where's the problem? Issue Solved!"
Still Hurly, I think perhaps any one of a number of talented whip plaiters on this forum would be happy to do some repair/restoration work for you, if not Mr. Morgan himself.
If you decide that you can't live with your own fall hitch, I'm pretty sure you have options.

Dakota Hurly,
I'm with you on this one. I recently got around to replacing the fall on My Stenhouse whip and didn't realize you didn't need to untie the knots!
My initally attempts at retying and putting the new fall on were sucky at best. I wound up partially untying my Pocket Bull to make sure I was doing it right.
Both whips are now back together and look fine. It just takes a little practice and patience. And next time, I'll know how to do it right.

Indian Texas Girl---I'm sorry if I've caused any confusion about murphy. I don't know a mike murphy. I mentioned murphy as a reference to "Murphy's Law." "Anything that can go wrong, will go wrong."
Sorry about the confusion My apologies
mr. Stenhouse---Thankyou thankyou thankyou.!!!! However, before anymore damage was to be made and before I had the opprotunity to read these posts I sent it back to Mr. Morgan this moring. Wish I had read these posts. I love COW, never met a finer group of people.
The good news about all of this is that I've finally come to the decision that I want to make whips. Hands down I love whips. I was so ####### frustrated last night. I worked for 6 hours trying to figure out how those knots look the way they do. The conclusion I came up with: There is no way I'm going to figure out how to do this fall replacement until I see someone do it first hand. I have Mr. Morgan's book, but I have learned that a book can teach you only so much.
Thanks for your help. I may need it again someday!
