Black Wested Jacket on eBay

Post by IndianaMoto »

Hello everyone. I was browsing through eBay, and saw a BLACK Wested Indy jacket for sale. Does Wested even MAKE a black Indy jacket? They don't show it on their website, but someone is apparently selling one on eBay. I thought it might be a dark brown jacket, but I'm not sure if the dark brown Wested's are THAT dark. Any thoughts?

If you look at Wested's site, there is a standing offer to make Indy jackets in any colour possible. I know of several people who either have, or have considered, a black one especially.

Yea, also saw it. It was as black as...uhm..black can be.

Also, there was a wested lamb, raiders style for sale, wich apparently was made sometimes during the early eighties.

Hmm...this maked me wondering, has peter been offering the jacket for such a long time to the public since raiders actually came out!?

I tought that Wested only was available, making clothing for the movie industry at that time.

Helt riktigt.
Wested started out as Leather Concessionaires (a totally impossible name according to Peter - people always got it wrong and called it Leather Conditioners or Leather Commissioners) and they were commissioned(!) by MBA Costumes, or Bermans and Nathans Costumiers as they were called at the time, to create the original movie jackets. After the 48 jackets for the movies were made, Peter didn't give them a second thought. Had he known better...

In the early 90's, Indy aficionados - Lee Keppler and other pioneers - contacted Peter and ordered the first 'commercial' jackets. The making of these fan jackets was a little side business for the first years, with maybe a handful of jackets ordered a year. Enter the Internet! Bam! Indygear info spreads like locusts throughout the world and when Peter launches Wested's website, the orders are soaring in like, well, other locusts.

And there we are... :D

Ok, things are starting to clear up now :)

But the question still stands, if the first commercial indy-jackets were made in the early 90,s where came this jacket from, made in the early 80,s?

Or...whas the text describing it on E-bay, supposed to read early 90,s instead of 80,s.

"tryckfelsnisse" kanske

Yep, pressure error Nels might be the culprit, or then the seller discovered his little dating faux-pas and revised the sales blurb (says nothing about when jacket was made now)...

Ah, internet auction descriptions....reminds me of the watch auctions I see day in and day out....."Watch in absolutely mint condition...with the exception of the cracked dial, dent on back of watch, mismatched hands, and incorrect case for year of movement, but otherwise, factory fresh!!" Yep, could have been a BIT overstated there... Regards. Michaelson

Yes, they do make black Westeds. I believe it was Chamorro that had it in black...he'd dyed his Aldens black too.
