Anyone have the problem of the stitching comming undone on the slit pocket? where it meets the bottom of the pocket,mine seems to be unstitching itself on both pockets.Heeelllpp , should I try to fix it? should I send it back? :

And you just got your jacket, right? I'd send it back as I had mine for over a year and never had that problem.

Are you putting heavy items in there?

I think it's too basic a job to go through the hassle of sending it back. I'd bite the bullet and pay a local tailor $10 to fix. Ultimately, you've got to consider whether driving down to your local dispatch depot, sending it off, being without it for a month or two, then worrying about it travelling back to you is worth that $10 job instead...

hMMMM.something to think about, I E-mailed Peter to get his opinion, it doesnt look to hard to repair , but it is my wested after all, cant just be any sloppy job you know.

My Wested has the same thing. I got it used from a fellow in France and the threads are popping out at the bottom of the side-entry pockets. I don't really use the slits on the jacket as the pants I wear with the Wested are khakis and the like, so I use those slit pockets. I do keep small things in those side pockets, however. If it gets worse, I may just try to fix it myself. Working on your own gear is satisfying and if I screw it up too bad, there's always the leather shop in town. You know, if this is a common thing, maybe Peter could come up with an idea....

I was thinking about some kind of hidden rivet or stud or something, when tha thing unravles change and small items fall from inside the cargo pocket to the floor.

the stitching at the bottom of the right pocket of my pre'd cow has come undone, and I never put anything in the pockets, including my hands. It just came undone. I didn't bother to send it back, and a tailor wants to undo the stitching of the liner to get to the back of the leather to stitch the pocket/hand warmer. I can't be bothered, so I left it, and am just careful not to catch it on anything.

You should have no problems finding a leather tailor in your area, as there are military bases in Alaska, and around those bases you find support retailers who sew uniforms and the like. (we have one near me for our Air Force base). They are used to dealing with leather flight jackets and the like. Look in your area phone book and find one, and they'll take care of that problem asap! Coincidentally, I just noticed this problem on my Wested today. Unfortunately, the stitching has torn its way out so there is a 1/2" slash in the leather. I used some leather repair liquid to seal up the tear and then restitched the pocket by hand. I started the stitch 1/2" above where it was last time to also cut off any further tearing that might happen. I went ahead and did the same to the other pocket. I never used the hand warmer pockets to carry anything. Granted, the coat is approaching two years old, I just think the stitching was a bit on the weak side in the first place. And I didn't need to open up the liner to get to it. Just went by feel on the inside, making sure that the needle didn't go through the liner. Can't tell a difference. So it was a quick and easy fix, at least for now...
