The other day, my wife asked me for my 'Christmas Wish list'. Since I always have the car, and she's pregnant, she won't be able to get out to do much shopping, so I told her I would make it easier, and make a list of on-line purchasable stuff.
She commented that she had no idea what to buy, since I already have all of the Indy stuff she could get. that's when I corrected her! I have 2 Wested predistressed cow's, but I REALLY want an authentic lamb. I convinced her that the lighter leather will be more versatile, and I can have a cow for colder weather, and the lamb for days that call for a light jacket. SHE AGREED!! WOOHOO!
So this Christmas I will be getting a new Wested Lamb! Just can't wait, just can't wait...
Specs:
Raiders Authentic Lamb
rectangular sliders
cotton body/satin sleeve liner
X-Box stitches on straps
elastic action pleats
back panel extended to sleeve seam
extra 'ride up' inch up front
I couldn't think of anything else to make it any more accurate. I do not want/like the gussets so I left them out, but that's it. That's the jacket I'ma gettin'
and I asked for a Wested shirt.
Gunna be a good year!

Nice jacket specs. How about tappered sleeve ends? And maybe
two piece gussets? I am going to ask for these things on top of what
you have for my next Wested Purchase as soon as they offer the Horsehide
in the authentic color.
Otherwise, my specs are pretty much the same as yours. I want
the sleeves tappered to 11 inches at the wrist because now at about 13
inches or so, I think they are too big, and the sleeve ends are too
wide for my taste.
And I want the two piece gussets because they actually are functional
compared to the one piece gussets. My current Authentic Lambskin
does not have any gussets at all, and I just wanted my next jacket to
be slightly different. But I did not want the one piece gussets, as they
don't really do anything.

Flathead, I believe he already has the horsehide in authentic color, as he send me two samples, one in the dark brown, and the other in authentic. Looks good too! You might want to ask him if it's a stock item now. I agree on the gussets idea too. I'm not a big tapered sleeve fan myself...I have enough trouble getting into a jacket without narrow sleeves, but it's definitely something to consider!
When it arrives, gater, be sure to give her a big hug while wearing it. She'll understand once she feels what a good lambskin jacket is all about. Regards. Michaelson

Flathead,
I'm pretty big, so I like the non-tapered sleeves. In fact, I find that with a thick cotton shirt, the sleeves are tight enough on my bicep. Also, I don't want my watch band to rub the satin lining more than it does, as it will fray the lining. I don't like the look of the gussets, and don't have/need them on the cow's I have now, so I can live without them.
The horse is quite the jacket, if Rob's pics are any indication, but I always wanted the lamb. I first got the cow cuz of the predistressed...but stupid me thought that it would show up 'movie' predistressed...acetone and sandpaper treatment distressed..I didn't know at the time that it was just the leather treatment. But I really liked it anyway, so I have 2. It's just time for a lighter, less warm jacket for early Fall, late Spring. Anything during winter months is the warmer cow hide.

The tappered part of the sleeve is only at the bottom, at your wrist, notI'm pretty big, so I like the non-tapered sleeves. In fact, I find that with a thick cotton shirt, the sleeves are tight enough on my bicep.
up near your bicep.
I don't like tight fitting sleeves either up on my arms, and my current
Wested has just enough room to wear a sweater, with very little room
for anything else.
But the ends of the sleeves are really wide compared to other jackets
I have. I have seen several other members who have had their sleeves
tappered, and they make the jacket look much better than having all
that extra material flopping around.
But personal preference is what its all about!!! And thats where Wested
will get our business all the time! Because they will make my jacket the
way I want it, and yours the way you want it! Ain't it great!!
Peter posted here awhile back that he did not have any large quantitiesFlathead, I believe he already has the horsehide in authentic color, as he send me two samples, one in the dark brown, and the other in authentic
of the Authentic color Horse yet, only the Brown. He told us that it would
be awhile before he had enough to match some of the samples that
he handed out. He said he would let us know via COW when it became
available.
I don't see the Authentic color available on the website, so I just figured
it was not available to everyone yet.

When I made my foray into horse, I asked many questions about an authentic horse leather - and it seemed that it was so far away that it wasn't even on the radar. I know this clashes with the samples which have gone to America... but at the same time, I believe the horse my jacket is made from isn't like either of those two swatches anyway... so the case might be that the deal to get those leathers fell through, or was somehow not an option, resulting in the horse that I have. How long "my horse" (which has the classic russet colour in it like you see in real 30s pilot jackets) remains and another colour horse arrives is completely unknown at this point in time. To the best of my knowledge.

Hey Rob - How's the wear/tear look on the horse so far? You mentioned something about the color underneath.
Pics not necessary, just having the final hems/haws about leather type holding up making my order...this is killer...if I were rich I'd just order three at once (goat/lamb/horse) and then switch em out for weather and occasion...
...ah, dreams.
Thanks,
J
EDIT: Rob, I ended up tying this topic in with my other about my final leather choices - sorry about that, if you pick up on this, you can follow up here, and THANKS!
