screen accurate LC order question

Post by QuantumGirl »

I already have a accurate Raiders jacket, which I love to death but I'm affraid it's gonna be too cold to wear during winter. :?

I'm therefore thinking about getting another one, Last Crusade style this time. :D I read a couple of threads and it seems like the predistressed cowhide would be good for cold weather?!

Other that that, I wanna be as screen accurate as possible, so is there anything I should take care off? What extra modifications will I need? I read somewhere that the pocket placement isn't accurate??

I'm totally confused and hope you'll help me again like the last time when I got my Raiders jacket. :)

I did a search and found this. I'm no LC expert so I have no clue how accurate it is, but the research was put into it.

EDIT: I forgot to mention about the pocket placements. Someone in another thread mentioned Wested doesn't do it because they can't accept a return. So if you decide to "force" them into adjusting the pockets, you may be out of luck if you need to send it back.

Hi there,

I'm the one who did the research in the LC jacket, and was very happy with the end result. I sent Peter a detailed folder with all the specs for a screen accurate LC jacket, including a block for the pocket shape.

If you mention that you would like a jacket made to the Michael Hills specifications, Peter should still have that information on file.

Hope this helps
All the best,

I started this topic almost a year ago and still don't have the jacket because I didn't come up with enough money then. Consequently I almost froze to death in my lambskin Raiders last winter.
Anyway, I thought I'd give it another try this year.
Is INDIANAMIKEY still around to guide me to that flannel he was talking about, or does anybody else know where I could get it? :?

I haven't seen Mikey around in a long time. :(

The flannel lining is a good idea. Without some type of insulation, no leather jacket is gonna be warm on a really cold day. I would think that you should be able to get flannel at about any fabric store. Although quality flannel might be hard to find. :)

Skipping that...

...I believe that he provided his own material to Wested to use as a liner for his jacket, and they were very accommodating.

I do not know if Wested would still do that, but give them a call and ask. They probably still would, but you'd have to get enough cloth and mail it to them, I'd think.

Good luck.

P.S. I believe he sold that jacket, and a different member on the board owns it now, if you were wondering how it held up. I can't remember who, though, but I just read it recently...

If it's the same person I'm thinking of, then Mikey returned it to Wested and that person bought it from Wested at a much later date.

Can I use any kind of flannel or are there any special specifications? I'm not a tailor and don't know anything about sewing :?

I don't think it will make a difference, as long as you talk to Wested about it first.

Mikey's original plan(and probably his first jacket) was to have Wested's cotton/satin lining backed by his flannel lining.

Yep, you're right, that's what I was thinking of. Good memory! - J
