Stupid question:
Before you turn a hat, do you try to put it back to neutral, unbashed state, or do you turn it, then rebash it to the turn?

Here's a pic I just took of the "turn" on a hat I just made. Check it out. There are a couple more pics here too. http://public.fotki.com/Fedora/hats/pdrm0175.html

Looks awesome, Fedora. But it's no fair to tease us like that!
It would be nice to see a closer shot. The last shot is good, but it's from a bit far away.

No, this is just sample body that I got a week ago and made a hat out of it. I guess it is an Adventurebilt, without the lightweight felt. This one is 120 grams, and not the Argentina felt. regards Fedora

Hello there gentlemen ... I can see I'm going to have to step and take appropriate action regarding Michaelson's initial comment ...

Michaelson, I think that distorted noggin' of yours is merely a syptom of the twisted mind that lies within it. I should know, I have the same problem ... D'oh! #-o

Thank you for stepping in, Jess, for my initial comment would've probably "turned" out like the response I gave to a different thread yesterday. A response which most likely left Michaelson as the only one who saw it before it was... umm... "cut."

I wonder if it's a comment I was thinking about making yesterday but refrained. Do tell Bink!

Alright, to bring this back on topic, basically the deal is this:

Take the unbashed fedora, put it on your head, turn it towards your right ear until you get the nice brim curl, make note of where the new front and center is on the crown, and work the new bash from that point?

I've got a used HJ Poet on the way, and want to test the waters with that a bit.

Yep. Bash the brim when it is straight, then turn it to the right to get the curl and then bash the crown.

Ha ha - I'm one step behind here but I just caught blues' post.

That's the ultimate turn and screen accurate (to the scene where Indy climbs out of the Hovito's river).

Blues, you should trademark that turn - all the Paris fashion shows will be showing it next season.
