After MUCH deliberation on my end, I went for the Joe Strain Whip. First of all, let me say, that JOE is an incredible person to deal with. He listened to me, he taught me a few things and sent samples back and forth through email on what shellacs were, what they looked like, etc. This guy is top notch and really we are so lucky to have people like him and wested who cater to the specificities of this group. Joe, THANK YOU.
Without further ado, here is my whip and the specs:
-10 foot
-Kangaroo (only way to go)
-Natural Hide
-CLEAR shellac (BOY, I couldn't be happier with this shellac)
-Larger Butt knot (thanks Cooler King for showing me this!)
-Special Indy Raiders Turks head configuration
-Whole lot of lovin' !
Proud new "Baby Daddy" of Joe Strain Whip !

That is a very nice looking whip, Jose. As usual with Joe's whips, the plaitting looks perfect.
Your 10 footer, and Aaron's recent 10 footer inspired me to order one for myself. A 10 ft saddle tan with a different knot is starting its journey to my house tomorrow. Joe said that saddle tan ended up looking a lot like Whiskey after making it into a whip, so it should compliment my 8ft Strain Whiskey very nicely.
I had to sell two pocketwatches to get it, but they were just collecting dust
