Will Ford benefit from Indy Gear when Indy IV rolls around?

Post by Rob »

Just a thought...

With all these tweaks and nips and tucks and lengths and different kinds of stitching we put into the jackets, etc, etc... do you ever think these will be incorporated into Ford's jacket for Indy IV? Can you imagine:

Peter: Mr Ford, try this jacket for size. A chap on the Internet suggested it would fit better with the arm holes slightly higher and an extra inch infront to stop it riding up when zipped.

Ford (incredulous): A guy on the Internet?

It's the kind of story he'd end up telling on Conan :)

Well, if Ford does get to tell about it on Conan, I know a few folks who wouldn't mind auditioning for the Dancing Indys! No, wait, that was Leno.... Ah, well, we could just find our which one and show up! Could this signal a reunion of the Flying Indys?

If it does happen that peter incorporates changes suggested by members on COW, i think a couple of guys will be quite proud if that happens,

Think summit. Think people being curious about why a bunch of people are dressed up the way they are. Think about the funniest explaination you can think of. Think 'Circus performance'. There you go!

I think someone will fill you in better on the details though. :)

Yes, the Flying Indys were indeed a result of last year's Queen Mary Summit. A good number of us were in Gear enjoying drinks and conversation out on deck forward of the Lounge. Suffice it to say (I'm sure others can fill in other details...) that a couple of inebriated (and otherwise illegally compromised) bar patrons out with us, upon inquiring about our get-up, were told of the Flying Indys Convention taking place on board over the weekend. The Flying Indys, of course, used to be the Flying Elvises, who eventually ditched the get-up of the King in favor of a costume more suited to the adventure aspect of jumping out of planes and performing aerobatic routines both before and after deploying our parachutes and landing safely back on the ground. Suffice it also to say that, with all participating Gearheads maintaining absolutely straight faces, that the...gentlemen, in their condition, bought the story, hook, line, and sinker. One of the guys then re-procured what was left of his joint from a hidden spot behind a mast of some sort and rejoined his friend. A fine and memorable moment for a good number of us to share....

I loved it when we convinced the guys that we needed to change to using 3/8 inch staples in our fedoras and then when someone played the Indy music on the boombox and Rundquist and several of the guys put their hand over their heart in a patriotic-resemblance mode and said something like "Shhh, it's our theme" or something along those lines.

The flying Indy's actually predate THAT summit, as that story got circulated at the FIRST summit in the Observation Bar on the QM, and from what I was told then, it even began even further back than THAT! We need a union card! :? Regards. Michaelson

Maybe the Flying Elvises stole their idea from us.
