I would suggest goat for a lighter jacket that is still hard wearing but lamb would be the lightest.

Re: Final checks on my Wested Raiders

I would certainly recommend the goat. The lamb is so thin I could see my nipples poking through! It was a bit chilly in the shop that day. The novapelle is a gorgeous feeling leather though and looks great in copper. That’s why I ended up with two jackets when I visited. I also got the chance ...

So I finally received my exchanged jacket. Went for the Hero, Size 46...Back/Sleeves at 26.5 (I'm 6'4")... First impressions... Sleeves are too tight...I'm cursed :? Leather actually looks different than the previous jacket I initially received...feels thinner, more reddish, even though I aske...

Finally A Wested Owner

Finally got home to open up my package from Wested. I visited the shop last time I was home and ordered two Raiders jackets. One in Dark brown goat and the other in copper novapelle. Really pleased with them. I ordered different buckles on the novapelle. The photos show the two jackets with close up...

Re: Three Questions for All Jacket Owners

Hi there Yellowduke. My shirt and trousers are also both Wested and I'm purfectly happy with them. The trousers are exact in the waist though instead of having a little space like High Street fashion. It means they're snug, but not tight. I might struggle if I had to eat a large meal in them though...

Do Wested also take waist measurements into account with custom orders? I bought my current hero goat second hand and while it is a little tight in the chest when fully zipped, it is very loose and baggy around the waist. So I'd want to avoid that with my own order. No they don't. I went there myse...

I think the hat looks fine but if you want to snug up the fit a little then some foam draft excluder, the type with adhesive on one side, stuck inside the sweatband will do the job.

Ah an old thread resurrected. Never mind the advice still stands for anyone that needs it!

One thing to bear in mind when buying original respirator haversacks, including unissued stock, is there may be some perishing. I'm a pretty much perfect 58cm size head which has served me well with hats from Penman, Adventurebilt (Europe) and Steve Delk. Ebay were kind enough to give me a voucher for £15 off a purchase over £70 but I had a limited window to use it. As a man of similar body type, I advise avoiding Wested. The price seems awesome, but the odds are it won't work well for you. Be wary of the thinner webbing that attaches the steel rings to the bag. Mine looked fine but were rotted and gave way when the bag was in use. I had mine repaired with the webbing replaced with leather which has held up since. They make a great everyday and travel bag.
