Re: Chelsea Boots

Hi, I've owned R M Williams boots for about 5 years. I buy the Yard boot - I wear them every day. The Yard boot has a glued, screwed and sewn sole - it isn't going anywhere. The leather is thick, and waterproof I don't drive so walk lots and stand around waiting in the rain at railway stations a lot...

I used to have a pair of these, got through the National health service for £30 in 1989 or so. I was most impressed they were gold at the time and obviously unaware of their connection. As with lots of things - I wish I hadn't thrown them away when I got another pair... I couldn't go back to a pair ...

Hi,
Not far, but I guess it depneds on how much you walk - it is around 15/20 mins. walk (~1.5 miles).

It's a good route for taking in some nice shops - good book shops on Charing Cross Road and some very fine gentlemens outfitters on Jermyn Street.

Cheers

On the UKTV History channel tonight there was a programme on the Tanis dig of 1939-40 by Pierre Montet, and in one picture he was weaonly ring a waist length leather jacket with cargo pockets on the front, it was on screen for a few seconds, but I couldn't see any ribbing to associate it with an A2 ...

Redwings 8249

Hi, "The style 8249 that requested information on is actually a special make-up shoe that has to be oredered in lots of 6 per size/width. " So they are not generally available - but I guess if 6 people who were the same size / width wanted them they could be. No indication of price. Cheers...

Handwarmer repair

Hi, Went down to Wested to have a handwarmer repaired yesterday, I may have caught it on something - not sure, but the stitches were coming out. I've used the jacket for a year and use the handwarmers frequently. I guess the openings are a natural stress point . Fixed on the spot in 4 minutes :) As ...

Hats are back

A UK radio show was discussing the fact that hats are starting to come back in style as well - with fedoras getting a mention (as well as bowlers and tribys) In addition I've seen a lot of pre-distressed brown leather jackets in the shops lately.... Seems to me that this is a site for wannabe fashio...

Its a nice jacket but just one or two little things are slightly off. Will Wested do alterations to a jacket if you have had it and been wearign it...

Mk VI bags

If anyone is after a Mk VI (1937 pattern) bag in unissued condition have a look at http://www.becketts.uk.com/beck/product.asp?mscssid=QQMRUQR600JB8PTW91B6245C6UTK527C&dept%5Fid=600&pf%5Fid=acc104 They don't have any MkVIIs left (they knew of the Indiana Jones connection :) ) Very helpful - ...

I have a authentic lamb and a cowhide, and of the two I marginally prefer the cowhide. The colour is only a shade or two darker, but I like the additional weight and robustness of the cowhide. The pleats lie nicer due to the thicker leather and the jacket can certainly stand up to more abuse. Also I...

Set the record straight

Hi, I have been lurking on this forum for the last couple of months and feel it is time to post... so here goes. I was over at Wested today to finalise some alterations to my authentic lambskin (which I am very pleased with). While I was there I mentioned this thread to Gerry and Peter and they show...
