Re: Boots
For something like that, I would go with a pair of Merrill or Salomon hiking boots (no break in required) and a good pair of wool blend socks (Darn Tough).

Have you considered the Coyle's Downtowner from Todd's Costumes? It's a great hat. I've had mine for a couple of years now and really like it!

Re: Disney Indiana jones show
I cant wait to see it for the 5,000th time in October. I don't care how bad the gear is, I can't get enough of the show! I like this attitude. :TOH: It's the spirit of the costume and the enthusiasm of the actors that's important, not the screen accuracy. 99.9% of the Disney-going public doesn't ca...

Now back to hats: I have a Steele & Jones '38 for sale on the bay if an tones interested. It's perfect but unfortunately it was blocked on a regular oval block when I needed a long oval. :TOH: I ran across that hat while searching eBay last night! Looks great and great price but too big for me ...

Re: My Todd's Has a Tear...
As Holt said, this is easily repairable. A patch and a little glue and you'll be good to go.
OR, what size is the jacket? I'll give you $50 for it (sorry, man, it's damaged!)

Re: soaked my new Garrison LC
Penman and all the other guys building hats recommend waterproofing. If it's good enough for them, then it's good enough for me. YMMV.

Re: soaked my new Garrison LC
And once you get it back into shape, get thyself some good waterproofing spray. I like Scotchguard with silicone on my Todd's Coyle's. But I'm sure there is fancier stuff out there too.

Re: All of my close enough (for me!) gear
Thanks everyone! I really dig the Todd's fedora, too. I get many compliments every time I wear it. Hard to beat for just over $100.
Tibor - I like the cardigan idea. May have to explore that look. I have a black zip up that is probably close enough.

Re: HOW DO I STOP THE SQUEAKING??? MAKE IT STOP!
A light dusting of Fuller's earth will stop the squeak (if you want to go the distressed route). That's what I do to my A2. It looks good and no squeak.

I, too, just received my Todd's Downtowner and really like it! My next hat, though, will be a Garrison Raiders. For not much more than the AdVintage, you can get a custom made Garrison.
