Re: US Wings 'Roo jacket in the works again

So I'm just curious, how well does this leather insulate compared to cow hide? Back in MN cowhide seemed to work well enough for me most of the winter, except on the extremely cold days. Now I live in MD and here it seems like the cowhide is too hot a lot of the year but perfect during the colder da...

Re: Rip David Morgan

Thats unfortunate news, I always thought it would be awesome to meet him. From the sounds of it he was a wonderful man who was very passionate about his craft and always was willing to help beginners get started.

Re: Beginning my search for a whip

I also constructed what I thought would be a 8ft nylon bullwhip last summer. However, it ended up being about 10ft long when I was finished and that was just a bit too long for me to handle. I'm pretty set on the 8ft size after using that. I like the idea of a middle ground. It may not be the best f...

Re: Beginning my search for a whip

I actually had a couple cheap whips growing up, so I definitely want to get a high end whip at this point. I had a cheap mexican one that actually cracked pretty easily and also worked really well for grabs, but it finally wore out about a year ago.

Re: Beginning my search for a whip

I will definitely keep that in mind! I think am leaning towards one of Paul Nolan's at the moment still. I was going to think about a used strain or Morgan, but I think I would be a bit worried about damaging one of those since they aren't exactly being made regularly anymore, and really would like ...

Re: Beginning my search for a whip

His whips look very nice. However, I think for my first one I want a bit more traditionally constructed one, and later on down the line branch out, although his steel spring transition does sound interesting and will definitely be something I keep in mind! Though the 2 year waiting times I am findin...

Re: Beginning my search for a whip

Awesome, thanks for the info. I have been seriously thinking about buying a whip for the past year now. I think that for now an older Morgan just isn't an option for me, since it would be a bit too expensive. You mentioned that you have a 10ft Nolan. How does it compare, handling-wise, to the Del Ca...

Beginning my search for a whip

Hello all, I am in the market for my first whip. However, I am not exactly sure what I should be looking for. My criteria are that it be an 8ft David morgan style whip, kangaroo leather. Also, price is of some importance to me, but I am willing to be a little bit flexible. I was looking for around t...

Re: Advice for a new jacket?

Yeah, I don't yet have access to the classifieds. Based on my suit I am a size 44S, so I need a bit shorter fit of a jacket I suppose. I will actually give some thought to used, if there are any available in the middle/end of August once I am actually ready to buy. I just graduated college a bit ove...

Advice for a new jacket?

Jacket Advice-COW Hello all! I am rather new here, and I have been reading about every second I have had the past week or so. I originally joined because I was looking at getting a bullwhip and was hoping to find more info on the one I was looking at (which I did, so much great info here!). One thin...
