To be fair, the whip isn't supporting your full weight. There is considerable strain on it, but it's not the same as if you were suspended from it.

Still, handy to have in such an event! I'd hate to see you tumble backwards into the water. Although, you do appear to enjoy soaking your gear... ;)

Adam Winrich makes a great replica called the Indy On A Budget (IOAB). It's a 4-plait whip that sells for around $100. He travels a lot, so be patient if you order (if he's even taking orders at this point).

Well, I don't think the question is how the whip is classified, but rather what the intention is. If you walk into a bank with a baseball bat and a ski mask and say "Relax, they're just sporting goods", I doubt they'd be too friendly. The cops need to be convinced that you are not a threat...

From my understanding in asking the local police, while the whip itself is legal, a neighbor could file a disturbing the peace complaint. Best to make nice with your neighbors, and then the police will never get involved. When I crack, I usually go to different parks each time. Hard to find a grassy...

Very nice. Love the display rack. Does the whip ever see use? It would be a shame for it to dry up and become brittle. Was the damage to the wrist strap from the filming? Or was that after the fact?

I guess it just boils down to which he removes more often, his jacket or the bag. I see him wearing the bag more often, and just throwing the jacket on over it out of practicality.

But I don't have a dog in this fight. Doesn't matter to me either way.

The Morgan was the one Adam Winrich recently listed in the Bazaar. It's VERY well broken in, and cracks extremely easily and, obviously, loudly.

I was just out of camera range, and saw the whole thing from the side. The whip cracked about a foot over Shane's head.
