Re: Adam Savage's self made Indy whip!

I've seen the clip several times and I am bummed he never took it out and cracked the whip... He also said "no whip cracker in his right mind would ever crack a whip this long. (11 feet)"

My 12' Strain is a peach; I love cracking that whip...I must not be in my right mind

Well said Daren... As a proud member of the Eastbay Whipcrackers, I was able to handle Jeremy's whip at the summit and I was very surprised by the quality and good handling characteristics of his work... and was blown away when I heard he was sixteen years old and had only made, like...fifteen whips...

Re: Strain vs Del Carpio . . . Three years later

Since making crackers is sort of a "side hobby" of mine, I tend to keep fresh crackers on my small collection of whips because I like the way a fresh popper sounds...just my thing and my two cents. Jeremy, I currently have your EB Whipcrackers whip and...ummm, wow!!! Great work!!! Keep it ...

Re: paying for whips

I personally like the "half now/half on completion" school of thought with regards to this subject. This really gives incentive to the whipmaker to complete work as quickly as possible and shows commitment on the part of the buyer. This goes without saying, but always go with a seasoned wh...

Re: Whips: Just how delicate are they?

I know for a fact I baby the #### out of my whip collection! I have a Gus Caicedo cowhide bullwhip I'm cracking out in my back yard (gravel, dirt and rough textured concrete) just to see how much abuse it will take before something fails...so far so good!

Re: When is cracker/popper replacement time?

I tend to change poppers often just to keep new ones on there...the whip sounds better all the way around with a new popper attached. I change at the point in time when the tassel strands become wispy pieces of feathery fluff. I make my own by the dozens (and in many cool colors) so I feel they are ...
