Re: My Garrison Raider (Garrison owners unite here!)
ChrisMD: I was down in Orlando myself last Nov, but my girlfriend has all the photos. Got a photo in front of that same tank. Saw that same stunt show twice. Got lots of compliments on my Garrison as well. Love that hat! It even now has a more relaxed brim break after a year of good hard wear. :D Re...

Re: Bill Kelso's Relic Hunter
I guess this would depend on how high you wear your pants, but I take it the waistband is still covered normally, right? I have a duck cotton jacket I still use for fireworks that only goes down to the waist & I find myself wishing for an extra inch or 2 of material on cold days. Plus, for hand-...

Re: Bill Kelso's Victory Horsehide Relic Hunter
Are you guys still planning to keep goat as an option? And how does it compare to both the horse & the lamb? I assume tougher than lamb & maybe (feeling) a bit lighter than horse?

Re: Bill Kelso's Victory Horsehide Relic Hunter
A little outside my price range ( I would if I could, though ), but what is the difference between this & the regular, premium horse? And the goat, for that matter.

Re: Bill Kelso's Relic Hunter
These jackets look absolutely gorgeous! From what I've been reading I think one of these will be it when I can afford a proper Indy jacket. I was thinking of either goat or premium horse as I want something durable. This will be a real-world type of jacket for me. Victory horse is, sadly a bit outsi...

Re: Bill Kelso's Victory Horsehide Relic Hunter
Bloody ####, that leather looks great! Being horse, I'm assuming it'd be pretty durable as well, no? Please w/ cherries/ pick fruit of your choice on top post lots of pics when you get it?

Re: My Garrison Raider (Garrison owners unite here!)
Having owned both an Akubra & a Garrison, there's no comparison. I live in the PNW & get rained on a lot--no issue w/ the blockshape changing at all. I simply pop the bashes out, stick the hat jack in & let it dry slowly. Then rebash once completely dry. Occasionally I reapply some Scotc...

You've convinced me: CS from Steve it is! Hope to order by spring @ the latest (once I have the new job & a bit saved up for another "fun" purchase).

Re: how important is the sweatband?
It's essential for comfort, both suppleness & correct sizing. Love the sweat on my Garrison--ultra soft & really conforms to your head even w/ the turn! Not sure about holding the shape--my thinking is it's the block shape that does more of that, but I could be wrong. You might try sending i...

Re: Most like a "classic" fedora: LC or CS?
Thanks for the input so far, gentlemen! :TOH: I was actually leaning more toward CS anyway--I really love the look of that hat! I do like some of the pics on John's website of his LC hat as well, more so than many LC screen caps, actually, so I've been thinking about getting one eventually. One hat ...

Most like a "classic" fedora: LC or CS?
I definitely want to get a CS hat from AB when I have funds again, plus a seaplane from LLS when he starts making those, but more & more some shots of the LC fedora are growing on me. Thinking Penman here, as it's actually built to be worn, unlike a modern HJ... I wear my Garrison Raider pretty ...

Re: My Garrison Raider (Garrison owners unite here!)
I know he did a Bogey fedora for a member here--I think it's a few pages back. Really great looking hat! And he did say a while ago he was working on a TOD block as well--might be fun to get one in Beaver. :whip: Then it could easily withstand the waterfall after rafting out of Lao Che's airplane, b...

Heard from LLS yesterday--my hat is going out next week! Belloq doesn't stand a chance of getting the idol this time!

Re: My Garrison Raider (Garrison owners unite here!)
Good to hear everything's OK & he's just really busy. Maybe I'll try him again. I just want to be sure I know when it's out for delivery (right at the 8-week mark now, so probably getting pretty close) in case USPS requires a signature. Plus I want to be there right when it arrives--getting real...

Re: My Garrison Raider (Garrison owners unite here!)
Anybody heard from LLS or gotten their hat from him lately? I sent him a PM, but it looks like he hasn't been on COW since before I sent it. Hope everything's okay. I could email him again, but I don't want to bother him if he's really busy.

Re: My Garrison Raider (Garrison owners unite here!)
Just ordered my Garrison Idol Grab!!! :D \:D/ Perfect timing as I just finished a 2 week intensive film scoring program taught by Hummie Mann--we actually analyzed ROTLA in class (brilliant work by John Williams & we of course learned how he did the "Ark" theme). :CR: Can't wait to run...

Re: My Garrison Raider (Garrison owners unite here!)
Just got back from Eastern WA doing a bunch of fireworks shows for the 4th--had to make do w/ the too-small AkAd, but it kept the worst of the sun off when I was wiring the finale for Pullman. The ad agency I think is not going to use us for the actual commercial (haven't heard a thing & it's be...

Re: My Garrison Raider (Garrison owners unite here!)
Well, the commercial got pushed back until the week after next, but the contract should be in by next week--then I can order. At this point, I'm leaning strongly toward an Idol Grab bash. Definitely one w/ the turn as I love that effect. I'm a long oval, so normally I'd be worried about turning a ha...

Re: My Garrison Raider (Garrison owners unite here!)
Well, it looks like I'm finally going to have enough disposable income next week to order mine after all! :D I've just been hired to score my first commercial for a major electronics company this week (I'm also a composer). Since this is writing for multimedia, I think it'll be fitting to have a goo...

Re: My Garrison Raider (Garrison owners unite here!)
I think my tax money is going towards a Garrison Raider too. The more I read about how tough these things are & how good a Raiders look they can pull off, the more I want one!

Re: New member wondering about water repellent
THanks for the welcomes; enjoying the madness greatly so far! As far as flammability, we wear hard hats when actually firing--regular hats are for daytime setup/cleanup. Scotchguard would be easiest, but didn't somebody say it took a long time to remove the residue for reblocks?

New member wondering about water repellent
Recently discovered COW after rediscovering the films last fall. I have to say, this place doesn't disappoint when it comes to gear/film knowledge! :TOH: I'm a pyrotechnician among other things & always wear a wide brimmed hat when working on a show due to the amount of sun/rain we get exposed t...
