Re: Best way to stretch a hat?
Please to report a successful application of Michaelson's technique for stretching a hat. I practiced first on a 30-year old Stetson "Madison" (Yep...been wearing fedoras that long). It took two iterations, but the desired effect was unquestionably achieved. Will now move on to the Fed IV ...

Many thanks, Michaelson. (Knower fo things... )Nope...never tried it that way. Sounds like it's worth a try. So...after I turn the sweatband up and wet it all around, I assume I fold the sweatband back down into proper position before applying the stretcher? Correct?

Hi - I have a near brand new Fed IV Deluxe that is a little on the tight side. (I should have gone up a size from my Fed III given the new Fed IV sizing...oh well). I am currently keeping one of those terrific wood hat keeps in her and twist her on up and get a good stretch....but after a couple of ...

Re: Will I outgrow a fedora?
Your hat size might go up a smidgen. But that is not the real problem. The real issue is that over time the fedora will shrink a little. In addiiton to buying the size a little larger and padding,as some have suggested, a $20 investment in a wooden hat keep to place in your lid when stored is a grea...

Hi Fed fans --
I am considering a Federation in carbon gray. But I cannot tell from the Fed website how dark it is? It looks almost black on the Fed website. Any comments as to whether this color looks more gray or black? (I am not interested in black)

For the best mix of historical accuracy, tough-as-nail/superb craftsmanship. and VERY reasonably priced...take a serious look at Cockpit USA (formerly Avirex) A-2s (goat and HH).

By the way...the above in NO WAY detracts from the fact that this jacket is fantastic. Wish I had one. Just noting a curiouslty.
