Re: What SA hat do you adventure in?
I have three hats that I regularly wear: My Adventurebilt Crystal Skull fedora (beaver felt) is what I wear when I go to the office. It has a sense of adventure, but it's still formal enough for work attire. My Penman Raiders fedora (beaver felt) is my everyday hat. I wear it almost everyday in the ...

Now, I might be misremembering, but I think that the screenshots Todd is using might be old ones from his last run.
Either way, cool to see that these will be back on the market. Unfortunately, off the rack sizing doesn't usually work for me (I am too tall).

Agreed, it's better to wear that hat and let it gain its own character. The hat will last longer and look more authentic that way.
Sitting on, distressing, and otherwise abusing the hat will only bring a short-term benefit of looking like the movie hat. The key is to just wear it.

The hats from Adventurebilt and Penman Hats were made in a way to fade naturally over time. This is not a freak phenomenon; rather, it is ny design. This was done so that an AB or a Penman could fade into the correct color, rather than fading out of it. The kind of fading that IndyRiv has comes from...

I agree completely with Mulceber. Another choice might be Dave Garrison, as he was also taught how to make the raiders hat to perfection. Any of these choices will get you what you need WITHOUT ruining your Adventurebilt (and cheaper than a new block).

What Indiana Jeff said. In my opinion, with real wear and natural exposure to the elements (rain, snow, etc) the jacket will get loads of grain, patina, and wear. I have to agree with both Michaelson and Gorak. I don't baby my Penman Raiders, I have worn it for 2 1/2 years and have had it reblocked once by John. It has only gotten better with age.
That being said, I won't cringe if it gets dirty, but I will brush it off as soon as I can.
