Re: just had my first, "that's not Indiana Jones' hat" moment

I can completely sympathize, Andy (and everyone else too). Last week I was wearing my AB when going to get coffee and ran into a co-worker I don't see often. He said to me, "Hey, Inspector Gadget." I got a kick out of that. The real headscratcher was when I wore this hat while kayaking and...

I took a thin plastic hangar, put paper towel rolls over the ends, then wrapped the paper towel rolls with bubble wrap. Sounds silly. Okay, actually it IS silly, but I could then slide the rolls out to make the hangar as long as I wanted. I could also adjust the slope of the hangar's shoulder...

I ordered two Special Offer Raiders jackets, sizes 44 and 42. The jackets arrived just two weeks apart last month. The 44 had shoulder pads, and the 42 didn't. There were other small differences in the two jackets too. The shoulder pads weren't terribly noticeable or very big. Tron's comment about b...

Here's one of the other photos I linked to before but now shown reduced to comply with COW image size rules. The light is catching a wrinkle along the back panel which shows the pleat depth. The depth looks to be 3 times the width of the strap. But what I'm gathering from the recent interest in 3inc...

Well, heck. That didn't take long at all. Here's one photo and links to two more. The linked photos are larger and show the jacket laid out flat. In one photo you can clearly see a crease forming on the back panel showing the depth of the pleat. (Sorry, I didn't find a photo of the pleat with a rule...

I'm joining the thread very late, and too bad too. The thread's taken some odd turns since _ asked about 3 inch pleats. I almost hate to bring it around to his original question. I'm one of the guilty ones, maybe the only one. I've definitely talked about 3" pleats. My Wested made in 1999 has 1...

I don't think the 1.5" pleat has any advantages other than SA really I think the shallower depth pleats look nicer. I think a better question might be: over time even with elastic will 1.5" pleats stretch the leather (and elastic?) so that the pleats stay open permanently, look all wavy an...

It seems all my posts obsess over action pleats one way or another. Case in point from three years ago: http://www.indygear.com/cow/viewtopic.php?t=7489&highlight= Three years ago Wested said 3" pleats were the only choice on custom jackets. Today we have 1.5" pleats on off the rack (S...

Many thanks, KT. One last thing. Do you have the OTR Raiders or the Special Offer Raiders? Wested's web site implies the OTR Raiders has the current, roomier fit and states that the Special Offer Raiders has a slimmer body (I'm assuming it's the 80s fit).
Thanks again.

Any success getting a Wested bespoke jacket?

Bespoke clothing is created without use of a pre-existing pattern, differentiating it from made to measure, which alters a standard-sized pattern ...

I was wondering about the differences in the colors as well. I have a 1999 dark lamb that was very supple and draped well from day one. I live less than ten miles from the David Morgan store in Bothell, WA, and I decided today was the day I'd stop in to look around. His store is located in a business park. I stopped by the Wested shop a few years ago to get measured for my Raiders jacket. The 1.5" action pleats eventually opened up, so I decided to get a new Wested with the 3" pleats and elastic. When I submitted my order by snail mail I sent my first jacket to Wested so they could take the ...

The action pleats on my 6 month old Wested bulge even with the elastic and 3" pleat depth. I'm wondering if the problem is the 'slope' of my shoulders or rather the yoke isn't cut to match the slope of my shoulders. With my arms hanging at my sides if I shrug my shoulders up an inch or so, the ...
