I agree I have a Keppler and Akubra Fed and both are very durable and can take a beating. Other than adding some fullers earth to the Akubra, look like the day I got them.

authentic goat, I'm telling ya depending on how the light hits it it looks light brown to black, just like the still pics from the films. I have the goat and the lamb and frankly I'm scared to wear the lamb as I'm not one to baby my clothes, and I've heard too many horror stories of rips and tears.

I have to agree about not doing the raiders turn, I unintentionally did it with my Akubra when bashing it and it looks ok, but my Keppler did it with a little steam. Remember the way the original got it was but someones bum sitting on it repeatedly, something I really can't bring myself to do to a n...

I did this long ago as well so I can't say too much. Of course at the time I had no idea that Wested made the jacket or that you could get one from them. Since it was back in the 80's when I was looking I was able to find something similar with the shorter cut to the jacket. It was close, very close...

I wish there was more of a tutorial but that's really all there is to it. 90% of it is just doing it by eye for the color and shade you want. The first pair I did came out more of a Last crusade color, so on the second pair I added a longer time in the black and less time in the red, for a greyer to...

I was told by a leather repair shop that you can. I had a leather trench coat with a very unruly collar that stood straight out no matter how much you bent it back in place. He said put an iron on cotton setting and place the leather flat and cover it with a bath towel. On the cotton setting it will...

while this whip is indeed a joke, I guess it could be possible that it was used as a practice whip, to let the stars practice the scene with the softer nylon whip thrown together without getting ripped to shreds by kangaroo hide whips. Besides wasn't a lot of the whips in Rundown CGI, they could've ...

In the defense of the authentic brown I'll say this and I know other members of the board know the same thing. We have excellent craftsman at our disposal to make very incredible, and in most cases, custom-made, objects for us. I know what you mean but in my experience I've had that promise that an item would arrive on time quite a few times. Especially for my Indy gear collection and rarely has any of it arrived on time. I'm sorry if you misunderstood my post, but what I meant was I have the authentic lamb like the originals used in the films, and when they are photographed, even though they are very much brown to the eye, they come out looking black. Amen to that Captain D, especially with the goat. The Goat is a very hard leather to distress anyway just cause of it's strength. You can minimize the shine with a little distressing and wear but I really don't think it's that noticable. If you have someone near you wearing a lamb skin it might be more noticable. I was wondering if anyone had checked out this place. http://www.billskhakis.com/ They are advertised on WLS radio in Chicago all the time as "made in the USA from original WWII military patterns." I was just wondering what anyone thought of the ones they had in comparison to a pair of Ind...
