recipe to dye your pants
The pants I had were to light so I took the Rit Dark Brown and Scarlet mixed about 1/3 scarlet to whatever you use in the Brown. Then with rubber gloves as you put the prewetted pants in the dye keep moving them around. Remember since they're wet they'll look much darker than when they dry. Should ...

Wearing Indygear paid off
I attended a Halloween party this weekend and actually one the costume contest. I appeared in full gear with my new Keppler in place and kept getting questions about where I got everything. The prize was just some tickets to the theater but it felt pretty cool to win something for something I love t...

One coat of the creame(jell), let it sit overnight. Wipe off residue the next day. Wait another 4-5 months and then another application if you want it softer. Junior and I have both done this and it has really softened up our FS Expos. Kevin at Pecards' said after these two application that should b...

Here is a quote from Lindiana for dying the Old Navy pants. I am sure the same could be applied to other khaki pants. Rubbing alchohol and FS Expo question
I have already applied one coat of Pecards jell to my jacket which it soaked up overnight. The jacket still has a bit of shine to it. Is it okay to use rubbing alcohol on it at this point to cut down on the shine or just let the shine go away naturally?

You can see a picture of what the shirt actually looks like on Cooler's site www.theindyexperience.com. Under Articles and Raiders on the Big Screen there are pics from the Louisville Summit. I am wearing an LLBean shirt (I'm the one with the goatee). That will give you an idea of the color.

Just got a whole bunch of Pecards.
I got home today to find a box from Pecards. I orderd the classic leather dressing, the cream (jell) and the brown water proofing which I have already used twice on my Decker boots and seems to be darkening them slightly. Also included, which I think Eric through in for free was a small can of boot ...

Picture of a Tim Bass nylon whip
Does anyone have a pic of there Tim Bass nylon whip. I am wanting to get a good shot of the handle and where the fall connects, and even a shot of the entire whip if possible. His site is down and have yet to ever see a picture of one of his whips.

How to get grease spot off of New Alden (JCREW) substitutes
Being the sloppy beast that I am, I managed to get a drop of grease from a burger on my brand new Jcrew's Decker boots? Does anyone know how to get off grease stains from leather. It is a very noticeable dark stain on my pumpkin color leather and really stands out.

Sounds like a plan. I just acquired 1200 ft of tan paracord. I am working on an 8ft bullwhip. so I will have about a 5 foot core from nail head to end. I am using bernie's method of shotbag, while not forgetting to create a good strong transition from the nail to the strand so I won't limp noodle out.

Here is some info from Tim Bass on attaching the core to a steel handle and the turk's head knot. When I use a steel handle I grind the tip down a bit so that I can stick the tip into the nylon and glue it in place. For the turks heads I have stainless steel ball bearings welded onto the end and put...

Now that I get a good look at the fall, it looks like it is parachute cord that has had the strands taken out and flattened. Is this what needs to be done with the last set of plaiting for the whip or all the way through the body? Is two bellies all that are needed for a nylon whip, 12 plait and the...

Wanting to make a nylon whip and have some questions?
I recently acquired a indy style bullwhip made by Rhett Kelley and the laces look like they are flat. There was an extra fall include and it is definitely a flat nylon lace. I have read elsewhere on this forum that parachute cord is used and from what I have seen with parachute cord is that it has s...
