Yup, too rich for my wallet, but that's a great looking jacket. Kind of reminiscent of HF's jacket in ESB, in fact. Which I also covet. Best thing off the rack I've found is J. Crew's Utility jacket.

Re: How much do people recognize yours as Indy's?
Years ago, the security guy in the lobby of my wife's building downtown stopped me to ask about my jacket. He recognized it and wanted to know all about how I got it. I gave him the URLs of Wested and COW. That made me feel pretty good. More recently, on my last trip to Disneyland, the Cast Member a...

I would love to see the back on it. Heh, gotta be honest, the back doesn't look like much. A mark here and there, and the corners of the yoke are rubbed off. But I'll put up some more shots and link to them soon. Thanks for all the comments, folks! Back in the day, I really envied the distressers o...

Wested Lamb, six years on
I've been meaning to do this for a while: some shots of my jacket, purchased in 2005. I can't believe I've had it that long. Other than a single acetone rubdown shortly after I first got it, this is all natural. Truth to tell, I've only ever treated the leather once, also. Shame on me, perhaps, but ...

Thanks. That came up a few years ago during a discussion of "Weird Al" Yankovic's Indy Gear in UHF. His bag is virtually the same in the Indy parody scenes. Technically, any kind of gear that is considered canon is Indy Gear, so if someone wanted to do a set of "Sky Pirates" gea...

Twice now, recently, my wife has said something to the effect of, "That jacket is really looking worse for wear. Is it time for a new jacket?" or, "So, have you started planning what jacket you're going to get next?" To which I patiently explain, again, that it's the point of thi...

I have to agree, as costumes go, that stuff isn't that bad for what it is, and it's cheap. For somebody who does want to make an Indy costume (as opposed to collecting SA Indy gear) their thing for Halloween and theme parties, they could do worse than getting than getting that jacket, bag, whip and ...

One jacket here, and no need for another. I mean, how is it supposed to get distressed a la Michaelson if I am constantly rotating jackets? My Wested lives on a wooden peg by the front door pretty much year round - when it's not on me, that is. Sometimes for travel it gets stuffed into a suitcase or crammed into any available crevice in the packed car. I didn't buy an authentic reproduction of the world's greatest adventurer's jacket so...

Dude, that is my hat as well, and I love it to death. My hat band disintegrated long ago, though. I think the Raiders opening hat does it for me. It's the beginning of the first movie, you don't know who this guy is, and you just see his silhouette. The shape of the hat there is so iconic. Then you see him come out of the shadows--after he whips Barranca--and you're like, "Woah, this guy is...

My first was the Stetson Indy hat that came out around the time of Temple of Doom, in a youth model. I was on top of the world with that hat. It had an Indiana Jones pin and everything. Couldn't get more official than that. My first was this same hat, a gift from my uncle who collected hats. (Have ...

Why exactly does a hat have to consist of animal fur? Why can't it just be felt? I have nothing against furflet blends, but I'm just curious. Every serious gearhead knows that absolutely the best fedoras are made from the fur of the elusive furflet. This rare creature can only be found if you wait ...

Looks like a worthy flight jacket in the adventure spirit. Wilson's in the mall always turns my head, if only to see how close they can get in a "consumer" jacket. Looks good.

US gas mask bag / HK sling
In an effort to be different (and cheap), I'm adapting a kind of oddly-shaped US gas mask bag (still WWII vintage) to be my Indy bag. Pics of that later.
