Thanks! Ah, if you're referring to the picture of the Mercury felt, I believe that hat was produced in 2005.Kim Hoffman wrote:Savory Trim, nice picture. Is yours a new hat?

Keep your noses to the wind, fellas. You might see a listing in the bazaar soon.
(I'm open to offers on it through PM, if anyone's SUPER INTERESTED)
Anyway, it's truly a lovely hat. The felt is incredibly, INCREDIBLY soft and dense. It's a very heavy hat.

It doesn't look like the dimensions are dramatically different. The Swerford is only SLIGHTLY stingier/lower than the Adventurer. The Knightsbridge, however, appears to have a somewhat lower crown with a slightly stingier brim.

I back the Fed as a good starter hat. And it's relatively affordable.
Perhaps you could also look into scoring a vintage lid off of eBay, perhaps something a bit shorter to sort of ease you into wearing a fedora.

It's probably not the hat that's the problem. I go through the same thing with my wife. In fact, I've just put the thing away permanently, rather than hear "Please don't put that on" or "please don't wear that when I'm out with you" anymore or even "you looks stupid in that...

Pics plz. Like everyone here has basically said, it just takes some getting used to. I find stingier brims and lower crowns suit my face much better, but it even took time to get used to wearing those. Now they just feel "right" and I can throw on one of my fiance's ABs or other tall crown...

Ian - thank you!! Yes, the fedora family is steadily growing. Indeed, the Fifth Avenue is a very very dark, almost brownish olive tone. The flash makes it look a bit lighter in the first picture. Can I pay you in glitter and puppies and sparklehugs and other girly things?
And all of my fedoras have the bound edge, interestingly enough. It seems to be the typical finish for vintage fedoras in this style, with these kind of specifications.
And thank you for the kind words, guys.
