Re: Wested Special Offer Raiders Help

I've got one with all cotton and another with satin sleeves and haven't really noticed the difference. The only problem I've found with the sleeve lining is that while the leather in the arms naturally wrinkles and shortens with wear the lining always stays the same length and sometimes blouses out ...

Re: Raiders jacket length zipped/unzipped

I guess the fact that Indy's trousers / belt was worn higher than people would these days maybe could give the illusion that it was longer that it actually was. This is the crux of the problem. To be street wearable these days you need a far from screen accurate long jacket to account for the lower...

Re: Wested Special Offer Raiders Help

Dr. Evil may be right (man, do I feel stupid typing that :)). Comparing my 42" regular Raiders and my 40" special offer the front panel is exactly the same size at the bottom of the body (as is the rear panel). The special offer front panel actually looks bigger, but that's just because th...

Re: My Wested ROLA Lambskin After 6 Months

If they were this morning they're not any more. Just put a load of laundry in with a freshly re-dyed pair of trousers. Everything I own now has a tint of mustard. At least the jacket is OK :P

Re: My Wested ROLA Lambskin After 6 Months

You'll have to give me a couple of hours. I'm hungover and wearing nothing but check blue boxer shorts. This... this isn't that kind of site.

Re: My Wested ROLA Lambskin After 6 Months

Yep, that sounds about right. I'm unreasonably excited about the arrival of my special offer ROLA - the years of excess are beginning to catch up on me so I don't need the extra bulk of leather facings :)

Re: My Wested ROLA Lambskin After 6 Months

That explains that, then. It's still a different jacket, though, considering the lack of a Made in England badge.

Re: My Wested ROLA Lambskin After 6 Months

Huh, I never noticed that. The original order was for two ROLA's. One got beat to #### by me and the other went to a charity auction for Christina Noble, the outfit I was working with in Mongolia. I guess the photos of the jacket as new are of the other one. In that case, can anyone enlighten me as ...

Re: My Wested ROLA Lambskin After 6 Months

The biggest drawback of shopping online, John. I can't stand shopping in person but at least I come home with things that fit. This one turned out to be a touch on the big side - not so big as to warrant an exchange, but big enough that I needed to pull the side straps taut (darn, just noticed I mis...

Re: Warning: Wested Customer Support.... Does it exist?

I sure hope this isn't a glimpse of how the rest of your winter is going to be! All right thinking people leave the UK for the winter (if only to avoid laughable complaints about the ferocity of the weather when it's no more than a few degrees below zero with a light dusting of snow). 3 weeks more ...

Re: Warning: Wested Customer Support.... Does it exist?

We really do fall apart in the UK whenever a flake of snow falls. I've been getting courtesy calls all week warning me that my deliveries will be several days late. Come spring we'll forget about the existence of snow and act all surprised when it starts to fall again next winter.

Re: My Wested ROLA Lambskin After 6 Months

Thanks, Michael :TOH: I've got a pretty good story about trading a bargain basement Indy lid for safe passage along the Afghan border at 15,000 feet, but I think I'll leave the tales of adventure to Dr. Jones :)

Yeah, I'm a big fan of the D rings, and I love the way they've tarnished out in the desert :)

Re: My Wested ROLA Lambskin After 6 Months

looks like you swapped the sliders for d rings Nah, as Indiana Holt guessed this was just a standard off the rack 42, and the D rings were regular spec. The straps do occasionally pull through, but I find that if you pull them taught then tuck the rear ring into the front one it sort of locks in (a...

Re: My Wested ROLA Lambskin After 6 Months

Thanks :TOH: I have half a mind to plant a couple of mousetraps in the pockets to remind me not to touch them. Saying that, a combination of the temperature in India and the prevalence of light-fingered folk along the way should discourage me from using them on the next trip :)

My Wested ROLA Lambskin After 6 Months

Hi guys. Long time lurker, first time poster. Thanks for all the helpful info I've been stealing from you without your knowledge over the past year ;) Around June 2010 I ordered my first Wested Lambskin to join me on a job overseas. After a slight hiccup with delivery (my order was accidentally sent...
