LLS, that's just the problem. The top of whatever bash I put in comes out even, or almost even. After ironing it again, the hat doesn't seem to remember the previous crease. If I reblocked it off center, that would throw the brim all out of whack. Would I be able to smooth it out? Yesterday I wet the outside of the crown and put it on the block. After it had dried a little I hit it with an iron. It's dry today and I thought I'd give it another iron treatment.

Some custom grip makers have the option for medallions or no medallions. http://www.gungripsupply.com is one such maker. I imagine that they would sell just the medallions. Would be worth a try. In your calculations you'll need to allow an extra 10-12% to the length of each cord. After you cut the strands* you'll want to de-core it (that is, pulling out the filaments that make up the core of the parachute cord), when this step is done make sure to melt the ends (just a little) so they don't...
