Just as you say, what you got is a good all-purpose Indy jacket. The length you ordered is much more in keeping with a contemporary fit jacket, not a period-style jacket. Wear it and enjoy it. Right now it has the awkward brand-new leather jacket look. Just wear it and don't baby it at all. As to yo...

Pretty sure the CS jackets were originally offered only in that pre-distressed cowhide, similar to the novapelle hide that Wested was offering at the time. Also fairly sure the price was originally $650.

Egads, this is an old thread.

I don't think you've been wearing your hats in public that much. Most brown fedoras are given a "nice cowboy hat!" in public. Ask me about the last 30 years of wearing them... I think it is generational. Every kid I've encountered calls it a cowboy hat. Everyone in their 40s or a bit olde...

Well, I think the issue is not everyone wants an Indy fedora with the turn and the mushrooming effect (or the weathering) of the SOC hat. That's okay. I think the SOC takes the characteristics of the Raiders hat to the extreme. Nothing wrong with that... I might be tempted get one one day. It is cer...

My interpretation is that there was a period of time that the Christy's and HJ Poets were nearly identical, save for the branding. HJ felt hats hadn't been made/styled in-house for quite a while at that point. Folks were essentially paying for the brand name, whereas the Christy's could be purchased...

Well, I stand corrected!

Funny, I was sure that was one of the imported Legend pattern jackets from about 10 years ago. The buckle, v-stitch on the strap attachment, gap between the yoke and sleeve seam, label, leather all resemble one of those Legend jackets. :-k

I would greatly prefer open crown as I think shaping the hat is fun and a great way to make the hat your own. Also, you can put in the Raiders turn to your own liking. Of course, it does take some experience.

Mine has a bit too much of a curve to the sides of the crown for a Raiders. I briefly put a Raiders crease in it, but it didn’t look right. Pulls off an LC pinch much better. Very different than my AB Raiders shape.

The price is just too high for a rabbit felt hat, IMO. I was hoping it would be the same price as their standard rabbit offering, but limited run, limited quantities, first come, first served. I think there would have been more of frenzy among us if that were the case. It does look beautiful, though.
