Re: Alden restoration?

Wouldn't any competent shoe repair shop be able to do this, or is it a matter of only wanting OEM parts and labour? LJ I agree with Long John. I would think any good cobbler/shoe repair shop could do the repairs. Certainly replacing heels and/or soles is a standard service. If the damage is severe,...

jacket? There is a really annoying bubble/mark on the front of my jacket that just keeps gnawing at me so I need to cover it. How hard would it be to attach a leather patch? Can you disguise it in another way? If it's light, you can darken it. Darker things always recede and are less noticed. If it...

Re: What hats were out there and how did you get them BEFORE COW

I have a 'Raider' by somebody for the early '80s. I still wear it. It's still the only Indy-esque hat I have. It's not bad really: it's very stiff, the color is too light (it's probably faded too), the ribbon is definitely too light and the brim is 2-1/2" all the way around, but it gives the ge...

Without doing some of the distressing the hat would be a Raiders hat of any other kind. The shape of the SOC hat is caused by the distressing. You can't make a non distressed SOC you would have let's say an Idol Grab. Being new and relatively free from the burden of having to ask informed questions...

For what it's worth at this point, I'll add my vote for the hat distressing as a service. People can buy a new hat and optionally add distressing. The cost and results are clear.
