Re: Halloween costume... how critical is the jacket?

You answered your own question. Hold off on the coat. Todd's stuff is great for one stop shopping in the Indy world and the outfit sans coat still is very recognizable. The hat and the whip are the two things that give it away-right. We are just getting a few cool mornings now where I can wear my ja...

Re: Wested Pants Sizing

Similar suggestions and experiences- For my first pair of Westeds, I ordered a 36 waist ( I wear a 34-35 depending on brand). Then I had them tailored to fit around the waist which resulted in the baggy leg look I was wanting. Problem was that I had them tailored a little short after wearing them fo...

Re: MK VII bag is stiff

Use it every day to carry your lunch and phone in. Or head down south to Peru and have a little trek. Or stuff some large oval shaped stones in it and dangle from a collapsed rope bridge while struggling with a large bald man with white teeth. Or find yourself on a ship stuck in a storm while you ha...

Here is another one.

If you ever get a chance to go to a WWII event as Indy-do so. Most of the reenactors loved it and I got lots of cool pics.

Does this count as an Indy Gun

Close enough RPG that I could find to the one from ROTLA at a recent WWII reenactment.
Had to pick it up and give it a go.

Re: What's your favorite Indy gun?

Gotta go with the S & W. Mine is going to the shop to get its barrel shortened. Just placed an order for one of Wade's holsters.

I have my eye out for a Webley, but not likely to acquire one anytime soon.

Re: Are there any gunsmiths in the house?

Never give up on a dream. You all know some of the best careers start by doing something you love. I have two careers that have developed from my interest in reenacting and fitness. Both of them are going strong and are very adaptable to this economy. Take some gunsmithing courses live or via DVD an...

Re: Wested shirt - Your thoughts

As a mostly lurker here, I read a lot of old posts but always appreciate repeated questions as it helps remind me to look at this hobby/obsession with new eyes. I tend to go for a more ROLA look and really like My Todd's shirt for that. I like the fit of my Wested, but it just doesn't get the roughe...

Knibs7, Yea we did get lots of snow in Virginia-so if you need some more this year come on out. Good sledding and snowshowing weather and my kids got out of school two days earlier for their Christmas vacation. As far as the Jackson meet up (can I say summit?). I am looking into some details and the...

Re: Who actually shoots their 1917 revolver?

I don't get to shoot mine as often as a like due to ammo cost, but I seem to be able to keep a decent grouping at 25 yards. Mine is one of the new edition models though. My favorite thing about this pistol is that when I first shot it, my then 8 year old son wanted to try it as well. Now, I am a gun...

knibs7 et al. We have a ski condo in Jackson and I would love to plan a winter get together there next year if anybody is interested. The major caveat is the weather and if you would be willing to handle Wyoming in the winter (Can be nasty). Jackson is a great place to ski and snowshoe and there is ...

Re: Todd's Pants

I have enjoyed everything I have received from Todd's Costumes. Some needed some detail work to obtain that first scene from ROTLA look that I am focusing on, but they (shirt, web belt, boots, sandbag) have all held up well. I like the %100 wool twill and hope that you go this route. I wear my curre...

No, That is one of the new S & W !917 models. Great gun and loads (pardon the pun) of fun to shoot. I am going to be buying a another barrel to cut down sometime when I have some extra cash. I am fortunate that I do not need a non-firing gun at this time. I wear my gear where I can carry a real ...

Thanks for the extra info on posting. I will give it a try later.

Any thoughts on the visuals of the headpiece on the bag. I bought two of the bags and am treating one to a dirt bath and general abuse today to give it a better look.

I will post pictures as it is finished.

Sand bags and head piece from Todd's

I have to hand it to Todd's Costumes. Quick delivery and good service. Several items of my personal gear are from them; Web belt, bag strap, knife, gloves, shirt, and boots. They all fit well and have held up for almost a year (the boots are not that old, but doing well after several long hikes). I ...

I have a Todd's gunbelt and whip holder (belt okay-don't liek the whip holder due to the velcro adjuster). I also have a Wade gunbelt with attached whipholder and love it. I did get (finally) the Keppler gunbelt and whipholder and love it as well. Since I had him make me a holster for my S & W, ...

I gotta echo Filson's quality as well. I have had two of their luggage pieces for years and they have held up well while getting a well travelled patina to the outsides. I just ordered the Filson rucksack and look forward to adding it to my collection.

I went a head and ordered a box of blanks from cheaper than dirt and another place:

www.atlanticwallblanks.com

to see if there is any difference in the effects discussed.

I will post a reply when I get the blanks and have some time to fire them off.

Thanks for the input,

S & W Blank Ammo

I have been shooting live rounds through my 1917, but I am interested in obtaining blank rounds. Has anybody had experience with blanks in the 1917 and can you recommend a source for the blanks.
