Re: Chamberlains Leather Milk

I have used the Chamberlain's Leather Milk on my Saddleback briefcase, a Renaissance Art leather book cover and an old leather belt. While none of these are jackets, none seem worse for wear after the treatment. The briefcase leather is breaking in nicely (starting to soften, but, it is far from flo...

Re: Todd's Standard question

I don't give my jacket the beating that Weston gives his...yet. Like Weston, I will wear the jacket for all sorts of chores and outdoor activities, such as hiking with the kids and in general, being a kid with them (climbing on big rocks, sliding down hills etc). When I decided to order the jacket, ...

Re: Post your Indy Briefcases

I have a chestnut brown 16" Saddleback bag that I won on an ebay auction due to arrive on Monday. For those who want a Saddleback bag, but don't want to pay full price, Saddleback does have an active ebay store where they auction off seconds, which is how I was able to justify my bag. Connectic...

Re: SF Bay Area - Demo?

Very nice whip. I think Rhett is often overlooked, but, his whips are quality. I really like the checkerboard he did on your handle.

Enjoy the whip!

testamonial

Hi, I purchased an 8 foot nylon Indy whip from Rhett Kelley at cowwhips.com. The whip is awesome. Here is a link to a posting soon after receiving the whip, the pictures don't fully do justice to Rhett's work. http://indygear.com/cow/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=359981 Rhett was great to work with, very ...

Re: J Crew redwings, anyone?

I have the same boots as Pitfall Harry, I purchased them on eBay for about $90 shipped (I almost felt like the legendary Sumgai, as in "Sumgai was just here and purchased an Adventurebilt Fedora, US wings goatskin jacket and Joe Strain whip all for $15"). Once broken in, I found the boots ...

my wife enjoys her "adventure girl" bag

I am one of the non-Southern California people who have purchased one of these bags for my wife. She reallly liked the functionality of my MKVII, but thought it was a bit 'manly' for her. She really enjoys her bag. I was concerned that the flower would appear 'over the top' or garish, but, like ever...

agree with Weston

I agree with Weston, I like that the inside of my jacket is protected from the outside by the leather. I have slipped in the snow, and I'm happy that the liner was able to stay dry. However, for me this is a moot point because I likely won't be purchasing another until my current one wears out. CJ

I'm a 44R and a Todd's XXL fits me fine

I actually spoke with Todd before ordering because I wanted to be able to layer a sweater under the jacket. The information on his site suggested an XL would fit me snug, and an XXL would be a bit roomier. I think the XXL fits me perfectly while still allowing me to layer a thin fleece pullover unde...

Just received my new Todd's standard

Yesterday when I got back to my hotel (traveling for work), my Todd's standard was waiting in a box on my bed. I ordered last weekend and had him ship the jacket to me at the hotel. The jacket is light weight, which I expected, but the construction seems pretty good. I tried it on (sorry, no picture...

Wade Egan (wadventure)

I have one of Wade's "Raiders" straps, great quality leather, SA buckle, and cut for my height (6'). I use my bag/strap as a hiking bag when I go hiking with the kids, and the has held water bottles, rocks, food, spare gloves.... Just about anything you could imagine needing for a walk in ...

go with what you want...

Hi, I have to agree with the wisdom of the previous two posts. With anything, if you have your heart set on something and you don't wait, you just wind up spending more money on 'filler' before you finally get what you wanted in the first place. I only have one whip, a Rhett Kelley nylon bullwhip, b...

Thanks, I liked a post I saw where someone took a photograph of the Todd's pocketknife with the MKVII, so I borrowed that idea for these pictures.

I don't think the pictures gave indication as to how nice the Wade Egan strap really is.

thanks for a great video tutorial

Hi Guys, Thanks for the video, I'm just learning how to crack a whip, and this has been very helpful, I can see I'm going to need a lot more practice before I can consistantly achieve the cracks I want. I also want to put out a huge thanks to all those who have written about the importance of safety...

new Rhett Kelley Indy style whip arrived - now with photos

My new 8 foot nylon whip from Rhett Kelley arrived this evening, and I found out the camera's batteries are dead :( I can't wait to take her out and crack tomorrow, and then take a picture or two to post. This is my first whip, and while it isn't leather, it has a good feel and should be quite durab...

I'm currently waiting on my first real whip, a Rhett Kelley nylon Indy style whip. I know, its not leather or SA, but, it should let me get a feel for whipcracking, and it will be a nice addition to my 'close enough' gear. From all I've read, you will find the Strain well worth the wait. Connecticut...

I wear mine most of the time

Hi,

I wear my Fed IV when dressed in jeans, khakis, button down shirts, just about anything more than a T-shirt. When I go to work (I dress business casual for work) I'll wear a different "non-Indy" fedora, but still get "Hey Indy" comments.

I know, it is worthless without pictures...

Hi, I just received my new Akubra Federation IV, and have a question about the sizing. The hat fits my head (front to back) a little loose, but with the foam tape, it is pretty snug. However, on the sides of my (non-long oval) head, there are gaps between the sweat and my head. I think this is norma...
