It's -13 F at the moment, up from -17 F earlier. I've got some of those earmuffs that work with a fedora. They look a bit odd (I think) with the fedora, but they keep my ears from freezing and falling off; and I'd rather wear the fedora instead of a stocking hat!

I'm loving mine - got my first "Hey Indy!" comment, too. At the same place (and same guy), I also left the building and came right back in because I'd forgotten something, and the guy said, "did your forget your whip?" G ...could have responded with a stern straight...

Hey Greg! Congrats on getting your hats and the fit. :) Don't worry. Bashing is half the fun. It's really not as hard as it looks. When did you order them? Thanks dirtyindianasolo07! I've been bashing and unbashing and rebashing, etc. I'm just starting to get the hang of it... I think! I ordered mi...

Great news. Both hats (standard carbon grey and dlx moonstone) arrived this morning. I almost didn't hear the mailman knock on the door; why he didn't ring the bell is a mystery. Our usually useless terrier was true to form and didn't hear him either  Anyway, I opened the box and found them nea...

While we wait patiently for our Feds here's a little humor; try substituting "hat" for "chair". http://dilbert.com/dyn/str_strip/000000000/00000000/0000000/000000/00000/1000/000/1020/1020.strip.sunday.gif    (This came up on my daily calendar a couple of weeks ago)

Hi jasonalun, "dirtyindianasolo" is my poor attempt to come up with a clever screen name. Dirty = Dirty Harry (I'm a big Clint Eastwood fan, especially the westerns & the Dirty Harry movies) Indiana = well, we all know who that is Solo = HF's alter ego in those little Star Wars movies...

I also placed my order on the 12th and received confirmation on the 13th that the hats were shipping on next post, which may have been the 14th(?). Patience? Patience. [-o< I keep having visions :-0 of my two hats stuck in customs somewhere while some [fill in the blank] who is having a bad day deci...

Dave, great looking fedora!

When the sun comes up you ought to take some outdoor pics for us. From all the pics I've seen, John does a fine job on his Penman hats. I can hardly wait to get mine...and it's only been a week...

Did you bash it or did he?

Thanks! I googled a couple of abbreviation/acronym sites that had 240 plus possibilities... but did NOT offer "screen accurate" as one of them. Thanks again!

There ought to be a sticky post at the "front door" to COW that lists all the abbreviations one encounters here....

Pardon my ignorance, but could someone please tell me what "SA" means. I think I know contextually, but can't ascertain the exact words. :-k

I see your two cents: (I agree Restless Dreamer) IMO, I believe that the hat IJ (not HF, but the character, IJ) wears in each movie/story is the same. (We all know that the actual hat filmed is different.) Why? Because when Lucas and Spielberg set out to produce these movies, they were trying to cre...

My credit card charge (ordered Sunday) finally appeared and I was very pleased to see that for a standard Fed plus a Dlx including shipping was only $215.88. What a deal! :) :) :)

Re: Great deal!

Quality/Schmality. Did you like 'em and how you looked in them? I've bought cheap wool felt hats for years. Mostly fedoras or similar. One summer I bought a leather Aussie hat and insisted on wearing it in 90 degree weather cause I liked how it looked. Lost a lot of weight that summer. My fanciest ...

Re: Great deal!

I may spring for a Heritage Fawn. I'd was interested in a Moonstone Dlx but they only go to 61. My Fed 3 Dlx is a 61 but with the new sizing I'd need a 62. What do you mean by "new sizing"? The upside to that is cause I wanted a Grey Indy hat I ordered a Penman and am currently happilly w...

The Australian economy or the American one? The financial panic over the past couple of weeks resulted in many investor's (worldwide) bailing out of various currencies in favor of the US $. Supposedly, they were looking for a safe haven to park their money. Strangely, last week Australia was said t...

Just curious... I'm also looking at the Wested and usually wear a 42L. Would you mind telling your weight and height? I'm 6'3", 185 lbs. and have been wondering about the fit of a 42L or 44L (capacity to layer a sweater). I doubt that the "large" would have long enough sleeves.
