Re: Pants Fit - Todd's v Wested
I got a pair of Westeds earlier this week. I ordered a size 32, as that's the size I take in jeans (I'm actually between sizes. A 31 fits better, but those are hard to come by). Anyway, the Wested trews fit pretty well, only very slightly loose in the waist. Nothing the web belt can't handle. Howev...

Re: I should of listened to my first instinct
Todd's haven't quite gone the way of the dodo yet. They still have pairs in smaller sizes, up to 34. I should be receiving a pair today!

There's nothing like an original. Keep her supple, Montana! :TOH: Ha! You've hit on something there - it's actually a very stiff hoslter, almost box-like. I'm not sure if it's the age or if it's meant to be like that. I've given it a light coating of pecards, but I'm handling it carefully. Though i...

Some quick'n'dirty (i.e. not very good) shots of my new Henry. I'm proud to finally be in the Adventurebilt Club! (Even if it's not a fully custom handmade one.) Genuine 1917 Vintage Temple of Doom/Webley Holster
My first post in this section! A little while back I stumbled on a genuine 1917 Webley holster, which is pretty much identical to the one used in TOD. It was manufactured by a company called Wolfsky & Co. From what I was able to find out, Mr Wolfsky was a Russian emigree to London at the turn of...

Apologies for taking so long to get these to you guys - my digital SLR has given up the ghost, and I've been reduced to using my compact instead, hence the less than brilliant quality of the following pics. I'll try to get better ones asap! http://i535.photobucket.com/albums/ee356/EwanMH2008/SAM_157...

Montana - you will likely have seen me at the cider bus as that's something of a haunt of mine during the festival. On an item of this price I do not believe you would have to pay any customs charges. You only have to pay if it it over a certain amount and I believe that to be about the £30 mark. You can check all this info online if you type in 'customs charges for the U.K'. Brilliant! Thanks for the info. :TOH...

This is just a quick query to the UK members. Does anyone know where I can get a web belt in dark brown in the UK? I've scoured the internet for army surplus suppliers and have drawn a blank so far. I think it is a nice looking hat for the money, but the concerns over it's durability are valid. It definitely is a case of you get what you pay for. I wasn't under any illusions when I bought mine though, so I don't mind the fact that it can't stand up to a heavy rain shower. I think it's mainly de...

They were often worn "Indy-style" to the side too though. Since soldiers and civilians pretty much had to have their masks with them at all times, this would be the easiest way to carry them on a day-to-day basis. The way they're being worn above is the way they would be worn in combat con...

You already have a classic "short back & sides" by the sound of it - which is the pretty much the classic look for the 1st half of the 2oth century up until the late 60s. If you want period accurate hair-dressing, go for Brylcreem, or Black & White Pluko brilliantine (wax!).

Hi chaps - Hope this hasn't been covered elsewhere, but the arrow marking simply identifies the item of equipment as being the property of and issued by the UK or Commonwealth War Office/Ministry of Defence. Are you after some hat specs though? There isn't really much in-depth info on the adventurer on either site.
