National Hat Day in the US

I just wanted to extend a Happy National Hat Day to those in the US and beyond. If there's a holiday worthy of its own post on this forum, a day devoted to hats is it. Although I wore my Fed IV Deluxe to work as usual, doing so today made it seem all the more appropriate. Cheers.

crismans Wow. My jacket has changed hands from the original owner to you to coronado3 to TCS to to Dr._J to TCS to me. I'm curious from other jacket owners if they're the original owner most of the time or if they have a hand-me-down like me. The motivation for me in buying a used jacket was more th...

PLATON

My zipper appears to be gold/brass colored (a bit worn down), but the zipper pull is silver/aluminum colored. It's nothing to fancy and reads YKK on the tab pull and YKK USA on the back of the part attached to the zipper. If you're interested, I can take a picture and post it.

Re: Todd's Jacket Owner's Thread

I cannot speak to the durability of the Standard, but I have seen some with PSBIndy's experience and some who have put their jackets through the ringer seemingly without issue (Weston's looks no worse for the wear). The Custom that I have inherited has been through quite a bit from PMing back and fo...

Re: Todd's Jacket Owner's Thread

I'm on the side of preferring the thinner leather. With the temperatures down here in the Sunshine State, I wouldn't be able to wear anything thicker. I noted before that the leather of the custom is a bit thicker than the standard so I was pretty warm with it in the mid-80s this past week. I was go...

Re: Todd's Jacket Owner's Thread

Weston, that is a great action shot. I wore my Todd's custom in cowhide today, and it was around 83 F here in Florida. I was pretty hot in mine and started to sweat pretty good. Of course, I had also just finished a 3-mile run so it probably didn't help that my body temperature was still a bit high....

That explains it very well. I wasn't exactly sure where the time savings would come into play. It sounds like something that a slight increase in cost would be worth. Welcome, Stefan. Cheers.

Todd's Jacket Owner's Thread

There exists a Nowak jacket owner's thread on this board and a Fed IV owner's on the fedora board so I figured (along with Fox Harrison's suggestion) I'd start one for Todd's as well. Those threads are nice places to see pictures of fellow COW members in their gear and are amongst those I visit most...

The shop looks very utilitarian, which is just to my liking. That sweet Indy case adds just enough to give it some context. I see many a customer being pleased with the hats coming out of your new shop. Enjoy and take care.

Indiana Green I'm surprised that the standard XL fit you. I stand 6'1" and weigh 195, and when I tried an XL on, the jacket was entirely too small. The sleeves sat about two inches above my wrists, and although my waist is not big (32-34 depending on the pants), it felt very constrictive when I...

Re: how many jackets do you have?

Like with my Fed IV Deluxe, my Todd's custom is the only Indy-style item I own of its type. I'm not so much a collector as many on this forum are (partly a money decision :)). Also, I attach a sentimental significance to the things I own like this, and it's harder for me to do if I own more than one...

SonofJoker That's actually pretty cool that you found a jacket that is Indy-esque. We all try so hard to get an SA jacket, fedora, etc., but something that is slightly different gives gear its own character. Not that I am against going for an SA look mind you. I have a Todd's custom and a Fed IV del...

Generally, I wear my fedora to and from the office during the week. During the weekends, I'll wear it some depending upon what my wife, my son, and I are up to. I just got a Todd's custom in a 44L from one of our fellow COW members through the Cario Bazaar. It's the perfect fit, and the sleeves are just right. Although my Fed IV Deluxe has yet to weather a serious Florida thunder shower, it has been rained on a few times. DeWayne I'm probably in the over-average height as Kt Templar mentioned. I stand 6'1" and I weigh 195 although most think I'm only 180 so I must have the pounds distributed well. My waist is a 34, and where the zipper met at that point on the Todd's XL was definitely too tight. As I mentioned, ...

My Fed IV Deluxe is a 59, and when I first tried it on, it slid way too easily down to my ears. I attached the foam underneath the sweatband per the instructions, and it fits much tighter. I used just about all of the foam to create a full ring, and I'm curious how much of a difference it would make...

I can envision an Indy-style fedora as a formal hat with the right suit combination. I tend to think of the grey and black fedoras as being more formal.
