Not necessarily. You can make a nylon whip to weigh as much as a leather one. When I make my nylon Indy whips I use longer steel shot core and lead foundation in the handle. In the result the 10 ft Indy bullwhip may weigh even 900 grams.

I can fully confirm that nylon whips are durable and they don't require as much maintenance as the leather ones. When it's wet, let it dry. That's all. Cracker changing is pretty easy to do and you have to change crackers every now and then in leather whips as well.

And they are a lot cheaper.

You could leave it in the sun for few hours and grease it every now and then. It changes color a lot. As far as breaking in - heavy use is the only option I believe. Try some patterns - 10 cattleman's cracks, 10 slow and fast figures 8, 10 volleys, 10 coachman's cracks and so on. Then change your ha...

Few years of regular whipcracking, suntan and dirt and it will look like a stunt whip from Temple of Doom bridge scene :TOH:

Try volley cracks. Rapid direction changing should help to break it in faster.

If I remember correctly the handle diameter is around 25 mm and the diameter above the ringknot is nearly 30 mm. Generally UK size = EU size - 10, so you would need 46 or 48 size jacket. There are sizing charts on the off the rack jackets so check them out, measure yourself or jacket that fits you and place an order :)

Yes, especially when you have only one lacing needle and you need to work backwards 13 strands :o

But all in all it's worth. My brown belt I made from the cord I use for Indy whips is my favourite to wear. My wife has 4 belts I made for her plus 1 roohide belt I bought her years ago :lol:

Braided belts are pretty universal. You don't have to make any new holes if you need longer belt.

They are quite demanding to make though, I think I can make a 4 ft bullwhip faster than such belt.

Knot size depends on the tie's width and thickness, so if the tie isn't too narrow it will look good with 4 in hand knot.

My 2021 Legacy Raiders have the same pocket flaps as yours. Bottom layer is stitched and cut off even with the upper layer, about 1-2 mm from the stitch. Nothing is coming apart after 3 years.

I had Paul Nolan's 1936 whip, now I have Del Carpio's Raiders one and I like it better. 1936 was kinda stiff. Del Carpio's bullwhip handles like a dream. But it may be just my personal taste.

Mine came back from the seamstress. I had her taken a bit in the waist and down the leg. As much I like Indy gear and I like wearing it, I can't get over the bagginess of the pants. I prefer the slim fit, so I altered my pair. I'll take some pics when I get the chance.
