Over in the Indy 5 section, in the jacket thread, there has been some recent discussion about what the DOD jacket leather really is. There has been some speculation that it may be calfskin or even goatskin! If it is goatskin, this would be a first in Indy history!

Well I had to see the film to check if the production team had used any of the steel strap buckles they bought from me to verify if the Hero strap buckle was different to the D23 mannequin (which definitely has a cast brass buckle and a press stud on the strap so it's the one from Hotel L'Atlantiqu...

I just saw this post. IJJTM is steering you right. I second what he said. It’s cool that, now, with the decorative snaps being used in DOD, both kinds of snaps, both kinds of bags will be screen accurate.

I noticed that in CS, where Indy's bag seems to be empty, he also hardly ever has it buttoned. Perhaps this misalignment, even in the originals, is why they didn't button it.

Holt, you're right, the right strap makes a big difference! A lot of the ones I've seen looked too red. Yours looks great! From what I've heard and seen here at COW, I think Wade's saddle color makes a great Raiders strap! More of the SOC look. Not red, just sort of a flat brown/tan color. Very cool...

As far as color goes, when I ordered from Tony, I asked him if he could match a certain photo from the movie. He said, no problem! The jacket is amazing! So thankful to have gotten to talk with him, and to own one of his fine, tough jackets!

Weston, I know that normally cowhide is tougher than lamb, but, having seen both jackets, which one do you think is tougher? If you check on pg 150 of the photographic journal of CS, you can see the stitching used for CS. It appears to be slightly different than the other movies. Hope that is helpful.
