Very cool, I was always curious what they looked like too.

Is it steel cable or a rope of some sort?

Do a search, there have been multiple threads on the topic.

Overall consensus: Looks good, works for the occasional crack, however is not meant to be cracked a lot, it is a costume piece, not a real whip.

To disagree with minstrel, the consensus is that they are NOT even to be used as an introductory whip, and that you should look elsewhere. They are low quality(have no real core), hard to crack, and will break.

Konara, I completely understand your point. My answer to the wet problem is to cycle several whips Allow one to dry/rest while using another. That works well and good for those who have multiple whips to cycle through. For those of us who only have one leather, or roo whip its nice to have s...

My first bullwhip

I purchased a Gus Caicedo 8ft, 12 plait cowhide KOTCS style bullwhip. This is the whip as it was shipped to me: http://www.indygear.com/cow/viewtopic.php?t=31516 I decided to "upgrade" it a little by; giving it some Pecards, darkening the knots, and giving it a coat of shellac. Tell me wha...

Now, that's hiking!! I don't think we are ever allowed to have a sidearm of any kind in Canadian wildness unless you are government authorized prospector or something, but it sure would help, if I ever venture into a total wilderness... Oh well... It looks like I'll still carry the whip just in cas...

After searching through the forum I found out that Red Wings apparently sells Pecards leather dressing, so i stopped by my local Red Wings store and sure enough they had some, as well as the boot oil, the guy at the desk even knew that the two had the same ingredients in them, though he didn't know ...

No, dude...Just give him a Tim Horton's Donut, let him have a couple of the beers in your pocket, and then when you get him a lit up, sing him to sleep with some Rush or Bryan Adams songs, put your touk over his eyes and walk away quietly. Beauty, Eh? If that fails, whack him in the jubblies with y...

Bad, bad, bad idea. Bears are regularly known to take numerous firearm hits and keep on coming so getting hit by a whip isn't going to deter them much. Any time you see a bear you just want to stay away, and move further away slowly and quietly. Cracking a whip is loud piercing and abrupt(quite simi...

Where to get Pecards?

Are there any major retailers that sell Pecards or do I have to buy it online?

Also I live in Las Vegas, are there any stores here that sell it?

From another thread: If you recieved one of these factory whips which shipped after 6/1 you can get a refund taking the price to $99.00, if you purchased one of the whips he made "in house" the $199.00 pricepoint still stands. If you order any of his remaining whips from the first factory ...

Shoe Polish

Has any one tried shoe polish to change the color of thier whips, and/or, give it a high sheen?
I know Pecard's seems to be the favorite method but was curious about alternatives.

Thinking about ordering a Caicedo whip

Is there anything I should ask for?
Any reason not to purchase one?
