Re: James River canoing and a Beaver felt Fedora

What canoes are people using? I work for the second biggest kayaking, canoeing and paddling retailer in Europe and we represent the Mad River Canoe canoes. We also sell numerous other brand plus manufacture our own products, here's a link to our brand page: http://www.bearwater.fi/fi/linkki_sivulle...

indy boot shoelaces

With spring coming it's time to get the indy boots out. They need replacement shoelaces. Does anyone know the length off hand? I see some kevlar ones at joes shoe service: http://shoes.about.com/gi/dynamic/offsite.htm?zi=1/XJ&sdn=shoes&cdn=style&tm=15&f=00&su=p284.8.150.ip_&t...

I recently read something I had to add to this:

"The heaviest Barbour is equal to the lightest Filson."

Yes, that is sort of the problem. I want to offer something similar to above, but in leather. I called Filston a few minutes ago actually, and they can make the jacket above in tal size for me, at a 30% over retail up-charge, or $357.50. They can start it mid February, and it will take them 10-12 w...

I like the concealed handgun pocket. Leather, even with vents, really doesn't work well if it's too hot or wet. If it's going to have a liner for winter it would need to be a pretty baggy jacket without the liner. I'd recommend a heavy weight waxed cotton, like a Filson tin cloth. I have their field...

I got a pair this summer that look much worse than that. I did wear them to help roof a friends house soon after I got them though. Other than they're very scuffed appearance they're holding up well. The shoe laces broke after a week or two so I replaced them with some thick yellow kevlar lace...

I got mine earlier this year. I don't know about screen accurate but I love the jacket. Its beautifully made of great materials. I choose G&B because they had tall sizes and I liked the fact that you could order by jacket size, not just small-medium-large, etc. Their customer service is great, t...

How about Pecard's shoe oil? The label says it's for use on oil tanned leather, Has anyone tried it on Alden's.

I've got the 12-14 week delivery time too, and I've been waiting since March.

Indy deforested

This probably isn't the right forum, but I couldn't figure out where it fit. Indy is helping to save the rain forests:

Indy Hat Sighting

I was at a convention last week at the Bellagio in Las Vegas and noticed a man wearing a brown fedora. He saw me looking at him so I said Hello, I like your hat. He was pretty proud of it so he took it off and showed it to me. He said he had just gotten it and the inside lining was imprinted with a ...

It looks like a nice gun. what's the difference between it and the regular 1917's? The model 22 has a shrouded ejection rod and lacks a lanyard loop, although I believe one can be added. I have one and really like it. I had been waiting for S&W to come out with a Mountain Gun in .45 ACP because...

I just ordered with Schmidty yesterday. He checked with the factory on my size and said it would be 12-14 weeks, as they're just starting a run.

Talk about a long wait!

My boots haven't arrived yet, but all my alden shoes have cork insoles that gradually conform to your feet after awhile.

They're not meant to feel like running shoes though.

I just received my 44T and I'm happy with the fit. I'm 6'1" and weigh 195. I have a 34" waist and I probably could have gone with a 42" but the shoulders fit and that was the main thing. With the underarm gussets, pleated back and adjusting straps on the side you have room to go a lit...

I got it!

I ordered it online sat. April 5th and it arrived today, wed. april 16th.

Its lighter and more supple than I expected. That's good because it makes it more wearable as the weather warms up. The fit is good.

I'm a happy camper. :D

Fedora recomendations

First, let me say that I'm not a huge Indy fan. I liked the movies, but haven't seen one in years. Then a couple months ago I discovered Alden shoes and got some for work. I love that they're well made and have narrow sizes. They're the most comfortable dress shoes I've ever had, so when I started l...
