Putting in my late +1 to Joe Swanson's blanks. Be aware that they tend to be hot loads--very loud, lotsa flash.

Just got in my size L, and LOVE IT!
Much prefer the fit, leather weight and grain over my Todd's standard. Only very slight pulling of the threads on one pocket. Sleeve length is perfect--no need for oranges.

Excellent choice to start practicing with an instructor. Means you won't have to unlearn bad habit in shooting stance, grip, flinching, etc.

Agree with the dull it down suggestion. Give it a light sand down to work out the bubbles, then perhaps wipe it down with a dry brush of matte paint?

Hot soapy water, followed by an oil rubdown to prevent rust is a must if using older/cheaper corrosive ammo, in particular.
Ballistol mixed with hot water works great for that--it's how I clean the firearms I use at reenactments. Blanks often have corrosive primers and propellants.

The Derby brand razor blades I currently use are in the plastic dispenser, AND are individually wrapped.
It's a handy extra touch. I've had water get into the plastic dispenser with other brands and had some rust problems.
