The hat looks great, Dave!

(What's with the recent pictures of guys wearing hats without shirts on? It's a little disturbing. :? )

Does this mean you aren't getting one of the new bodies, then?

Can I ask one question? The brims strike me as very KotCS. Would that be your assessment? You may be right, Kilgour - couldn't say for sure. Like I said the felt has a lot of stiffener and it's pretty thick so it may indeed be more rigid the way the KOTCS hat seems to be. I think some folk are chec...

Well, as I promised, here we go: a couple photos of the moonstone Fed IV in sunlight: (please ignore that blindingly white, hairy arm in the bottom of the pictures  ) http://i269.photobucket.com/albums/jj66/rbbrock/Hats/Fed%20IV/IMG_0456-1.jpg http://i269.photobucket.com/albums/jj66/rbbrock/Hat...

Sorry it took so long, but here are some of the promised pics of my new Moonstone Fed IV. I realize the crease is not SA, but I'm not aiming for exact SA here, just a look that I like, which I think I have here. There will likely be some tweaking, but overall I think it's pretty good. http://i269.ph...

My Moonstone Fed IV arrived today! :D I'll post pictures tomorrow night, as the digital camera was left at the office. The color is excellent, the fit is about right - a little loose, especially on the sides, but I'm a long oval, so that's to be expected - just slapped a couple 2-3 inch pieces of th...

You can buy a cheap hat stand at probably any hat shop or western wear store near you.

Something like this: https://www.noggintops.com/page.cfm?p=86.

That hat definitely looks strange. The crown is wider at the brim, narrows up through the ribbon, then bulges wide again as it rises toward the top. If you haven't yet, you should email Ron that picture.

When I ordered mine from Lee a few weeks ago, he said I was likely to have it by the premiere. That sounds to me like they're still a couple weeks out, and he may not be able to predict when they'll arrive with much certainty yet. He's very nice to talk to, so you could always just give him a call a...

Yeah, an extra $40 for a mechanical movement is worth it, IMO. Just don't forget to wind the watch! Sometimes I won't wear my automatic for a couple of days, then I'll check the time when I wear it again and it'll really throw me off...

I wear a hat almost any time I go outside. As everyone says, once you get used to it, you notice more when it's gone than when it's on. And that hat really does look great on you! The ratio between brim-to-crown and brim-to-chin is very close, which is just what a good proportionate Raiders hat needs.

Back to the topic... The Fed IV hat sizing relative to modern day hat sizing. My Akubra Adventurer 58 fit me perfectly after a few wears, but from what I hear my Fed IV won't fit the same way. I've measured my head MANY times and it's never exact. Sometimes its 22 1/2 sometimes it's 22 3/4. Either ...

Won't you be getting a Fed IV then? My understanding was that "old" Feds (Fed IIIs?) were discontinued in anticipation of the Fed IVs.

The right ribbon, cheaper than you currently get it. Great!
Possibly the original Raiders block and felt. I think it goes without saying that if this is indeed the case, you will have guaranteed sales to most of the members of this forum.
